Hi
I have a landing page. And now i want to try to get traffic to it. I keep reading how submitting articles to directories is an effective way to get traffic. But feel i don't completely understand it.
I have read that with a squeeze page it is not really going to get ranked on search engines - not to the first page anyway as google loves content and my squeeze page has just a few words on it. So i am not really looking for seo techniques.

But what most websites say on article marketing is that it is good for backlinks (for google) and traffic.

So is article marketing effective to get traffic without trying to rank in search engines? Do people go to article directories just to read articles?

And if it is a good source of traffic by itself without trying to get ranked in google then i take it it is ok just to submit the same article over and over again to different article directories?

Thanks for help!

Submitting articles to directories is a dead practice now. You must have run into some outdated material. The good news is that you can research content marketing as an alternative strategy. Content marketing uses a similar approach (and Lord knows, the same purpose); however, it employs different channels. And article directories aren't one of them.

Submitting articles to directories has never been much of an effective method for generating useful traffic. This myth unfortunately has been spread widely, particularly through the Warrior Forum by the misinformed and nefarious article marketing/SEO hucksters. Relatively few people have actually experienced real success in this twisted and warped so-called "article marketing" model.

The best use of articles in this regard has always been to get them published in venues which are already targeting your reading audiences. Look for online/offline publications relevant to your niches or targeted demographics. The only article directory I have ever used with success is ezinearticles.com, which is still well-regarded and quite often used by publishers for sourcing content.
