Is squeezing the answer?

My client is selling a personal health-related product online, with the website already up and drawing a little traffic, but with sales below what she'd hoped for. Would a well-done health-related newsletter as part of the website, with an updated blog of her own cancer recovery, draw more traffic? Or would a better idea be a squeeze page which offered a newsletter free in exchange for their email address? And if a squeeze page, what might it look like?

A lot of questions, I know, so I thank you in advance for responding.

Thanks, Alexa. I appreciate the information. Actually the product has nothing to do with cancer, per se, but with general health and record-keeping and is really only an aside to the newsletter. Could that still create problems?

Yes a squeeze page is a must and doing a health news letter is just what you want to do, this will build a solid trust worthy relationship with the customer. People always want the bonus before they buy, so by giving away a free health news letter is like a bribe for them you get them on your list and keep sending the news letter to them. The great thing about the news letter is it can be used to promote products while building a strong relationship with them.

Well they say it takes more than one pitch before most people buy. So the more you put the offer in front of them, or remind them of the site, the better chance you have of making more sales.

If anything a newsletter can be a reminder, maybe get them back to the site.

It always makes sense to build a list. Regardless of whether or not your client focuses on building a blog with a personal story, she should work on having a list to pitch her products to. Maybe she should do both ... the blog and the squeeze page!
