Need advise for new bloging

Hi all,

Thanks for reading my first thread here.

Well I plan my self to start a blog where targeting USA, England, Canada and some other EUROPE countries. But I don't know what topic all about to start my blog.

Do you have any idea like what is the most read in those countries?

I really appreciated your time.

In the UK at present, the most discussed is the benefits system, with out all normal stuff, like get a job, partnership responsibility, no jobs, I listened to radio 5 live, and those decision makers make rules but don't apply to them get a real job so there's a good start

Its always beneficial to take a personal inventory and see what Passion or Expertise you have in a particular Niche.

    Start there

Well you could start a blog on a wide variety of topics:

    - Top night-life states/cities in a particular country
    - Wealth management and investing
    - The dating scene... all facets of dating (interracial, straight, BBW, milf, etc)

Whatever you decide on, make a decision soon so that you can get started - and learn how to make your blog work.

Just to repeat everyone before, but something that you are passionate about, if not you will grow tired if it pretty quickly.

Do you understand the concept of targeting? I don't think so.

Generally targeting means focusing on a small segment of the population, all having a common desire or want, and offering products or services that they are seeking.

Your plan is so broad that you're going to appeal to no one.

I agree with the other posters. If you don't have an expertise or general passion in what you're blogging about, you're completely wasting your time and that of anyone who stumbles across your site.

Open Microsoft Word (or Google Docs) and just start writing. Then keep writing. Then write some more. If you're able to do that and consider it good, then you've found your blog topic.

And as a gentle, respectful suggestion: Look into some of the plugins for automatic grammar and spellchecking. Your post title has two spelling errors. *Advice. *Blogging.

Firstly, you have a ton to learn before even considering to start a blog...
Secondly, why not start where you live? It's no use "targeting" a bunch of countries that you don't know anything about...

If I were you I'd choose the topic of my blog by going narrow and deep instead of wide and shallow.

    For example....

Imagine that you went to a blog and landed on a post about the secret life of grasshoppers entitled "Fifty shades of green" (I dunno...maybe you're into insects). You read it all, love it and can't wait to see more so you click "next" and it turns out to be a post about "101 ways to save money for a vacation to Antarctica".

    WTF??

That's how most people will feel if your blog jumps from one topic to the next with no rhyme, reason or focus. They'll be so disappointed and/or confused that they'll probably just leave and never return.

Now on the other hand....if they clicked over to your next post and it's entitled "The sweet seductive sounds of stridulation" (a fancy way of saying the sound grasshoppers make to attract a mate), then you might very well find that the person bookmarks your website, joins your newsletter and buys any grasshopper related product you recommend to them.

Why? Because you're awesome and you both share a mutual (and weird) love of all things grasshopper.

My point? Specializing is the best and fastest way to get your blog noticed.

Try to find a topic that's not only in demand (by a small but enthusiastic group preferably), but something that YOU like to read, write, research and talk about.

That's what's going to give you the motivation to grind until you build a following.... and, it just makes the entire blogging experience much more pleasant.

Why limit yourself to a handful of countries?

Go narrow and deep and blow their minds with exceptional content. Do that and do it well and you'll have fans from all over the globe clamoring to read your next post.

  • In the US is all about celebrity and clothes and other vain things. Vanity would be a good blog topic for the USA

Have a look at Google Trends Top Charts over the years to see what subjects have remained popular and are becoming more popular.

You can narrow your searches by country, so if English isn't your first language you may find an opportunity to write about a hot topic in your first language.

Once you have an idea what subject you want to cover, stick that and any related keywords into the Google Trends search to get graphs of interest over time, world maps of regional interest, and top & rising related searches.

This should give you plenty of ideas about what would be popular to write about and for which countries. Just make sure to focus your blog on a specific subject or niche and also, more importantly, that you're really interested in the subject and can thus remain motivated enough keep writing.

About making money always be the most discussed. But I think that you should base on your plan: what you like, how will you earn money from them, how much do you need to see if there was a niche like that. And go on.

Thank you very much everyone. It was very hard to learn from things to things but I will have to do slowly.

I took your advise. I am from Cambodia where it has poor knowledge of all and importance thing is English speaking and writing. Not all Cambodian are poor in it but some also quite good for both speaking and writing.

I also want to focus on some topic in my country but I was thinking if I do so I will have no visitors as I mentioned Cambodian they will not use their time to read even the article is good.

Anyway I will learn from all advise above before start blogging and I hope you all won't mind if I show you my first post.

    Have a good day.

Why don't you focus on mindest, personal development... they are always very popular.

People are always looking for ways to improve themselves... and improve their life and circumstances.

You can put your interpretation on mindset and what you have learned and then learn and share what you learn.

Need to bounce any ideas off me just send me a message.

    Cheers

It also depends on what you want to achieve with your blog. Do you want to earn money from it? If so, you need to find topics that

    1. You have knowledge of.
    2. Passionate about.
    3. Able to converse with a person if they question you about an article or need advice.
    4. Be able to recommend items/ products based on personal experience.
    5. Be able to create content on an ongoing basis.
    6. Offer views that are not the same on every other blog with the same niche.
    7. Must be able to keep your audience coming back for more in order to build a list.

So don't just pick any topic and later find that you don't have much to talk about. Research is key. Scarcity is very important. Meaning people are always looking for info that is new and fresh. If you are able to offer info that is not readily available online, then you will create a good following.

It's a very broad question. Make a list of niches you are passionate about and they check the potential off the niche from monetization point of view.
