Domain dropped 5 times. Still of value?

I am looking for aged domains in my field Tuscany/Chianti/Wine.

chianti-wein.com is 11 years old but has been "dropped" five times according to whois.domaintools.com .

Does this have any value over choosing a "fresh" domain?

https://www.domcop.com/domains/keywo...rchMode=simple

I plan to use it legitimately (if that is the right word!) for German speakers coming on a Chianti wine tour.

Thank you!

I really don't see what you or the other posters ahead of me see in this domain.

First of all, the word "wine" is misspelled. That's an issue in my book.

Second, just because a page in the web site has a PR of 2, that doesn't mean your site will inherit the page rank after you put a new site on the domain. Google will know that your new site is not the same as the old site and you will sooner or later (probably sooner) be downgraded.

Third, aged domains are not all they're cracked up to be. Google understands what's going on with domains, new ownership, and new site pages recently introduced where they were different before. Google wants to provide it's search users with the best, most relevant content possible. They aren't going to "reward" your site until you, as the new owner, prove your site deserves a ranking above others.

IMO, you should just register a new domain and do all you can to put up good relevant content. Aged domains carry the baggage of old links, possibly bans from other sites if any of the previous domains warranted it, and nothing that will give you an advantage with Google.

      It's spelled correctly.

The OP will primarily target the German audience. Thus, the word, wein, which is German.

So, Wein is German, I get that and can understand why you will be targeting this. Will you be marketing the entire site in German in that case?

Chianti, even before I googled it I knew that wasn't German but Italian...

So what you have here is a mess of a domain that is nothing to all people and has been dropped 5 times already because others couldn't make it work and you somehow think you are the difference, the one that the prophecy told about to bring peace to the matrix?

*bangs his head against a brick wall*

By the way, not a great idea posting domains you are thinking about getting on here, if someone sees something someone suggest then screw the original poster, they will take it and they will think nothing of it, not even to thank you.

Can't resist that dig, can ya?

You're barking up the wrong tree, oracle--must be the gases from Delphi...

By the way, read again--from the top of the thread this time.

You could tell me how foot-in-mouth tastes later.

Thanks for your help. PR can be grown. The thing about age is that I cannot at a later date alter it, other than one day at a time.

Sorry webmarketer, I don't speak German so all I have to go by is what the OP said about his market (see above).

I still stand by my opinion, regardless if there is a spelling mistake. And that is that aged domains are overrated, that they may carry unwanted baggage, and, in my opinion, he would do better off registering a new domain.

I certainly respect your opinion if it differs.
