Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing to Host iMobiTrax

Hello Guys, I searched a lot for a fast dedicated servers to host Imobitrax, some hosting are really expensive, I discovered that Microsoft offers free trial dedicated servers which called Microsoft Azure for 60 Days, those servers are extremely fast with bandwidth of 1000 Mbit/s, So My question is, is it possible to host Imobitrax on this dedicated servers, and if yes, then how? Thanks in advance, and much respect to all of you Guys

What is to stop you from asking your question to Microsoft support?

People on this forum can only guess what MS will say.

Yes you can host iMobitrax on a dedicated server. In fact you kind of have too... However do not host iMobitrax on a windows PC it's a waste of performance. Personally I used Namehero.com or Beyondhosting.com

You don't have to use a dedicated server, you can use a VPS. Azure actually only offers VPSs, not dedicated servers. Azure is also overkill if you just need one VPS to run iMobiTrax. It's also going to be a lot more expensive that places. I would suggest looking into Linode or Digital Ocean. I have used both and haven't had a problem with either. On Linode, for $80 a month, you can get:

    8 GB RAM
    6 CPU Cores
    192 GB SSD Storage
    8 TB Transfer
    40 Gbit Network In
    1000 Mbit Network Out

Azure is a wonderful service and provides a ton of features but if you only need a VPS, I would look to other places.

Azure is not a dedicated server.
Don't use azure. It's slowly, expensive, and unuseful.
Use servers from server4you or LeaseWeb.
Cheap and fast and very useful.

To be blunt: I don't think some people have a clue about Azure or cloud computing.

Yes, Azure runs on Windows, but only on the host level -- and that's a level that only the engineers at MS have access to. To the rest of us, we can run a variety of platforms on top of Azure. Windows for sure, but also a variety of Linux distros.

You're right that Azure isn't a dedicated server. But you can get specs on an Azure VM that will blow most dedicated boxes away. It's 2015, not 2005. Virtualization is king these days for a reason -- which isn't to say that virtualization is always better than dedicated boxes, but neither is the reverse true. Take a look at most of the top, fastest growing startups. Where do they host? AWS, Rackspace, and Azure. All virtualized.

I honestly know nothing about iMobitrax, so I can't speak to which hosting would be the best. And I've honestly not used Azure enough to really speak to its benefits and drawbacks (I use AWS and Rackspace, however, so I know a lot about cloud computing and virtualized infrastructure environments). But I do know enough to know that much of what's being said here is just plain wrong.
