Amazon has been sending out emails about their new API signing policy: Amazon API Signing Frankly, I have no idea what they are talking about. Since I am an Amazon affiliate and sell their products on some of my Wordpress sites, I wanted to make sure there was nothing that needed to be done on my sites to conform to their new policy. Anyone understand this and to whom it applies? |

Do you have any kind of Amazon Plugin on your WP sites that automatically get items from Amazon?

Larry, I'll answer this for you since I make most of my income with Amazon and have been changing all of my sites and blogs to comply with the new API that takes affect on August 15th. To make get any commissions from Amazon after August 15th you need to supply 2 Access Identifiers to Amazon. I have put the instructions below for you. Instructions --------------------------- Go to: Amazon Web Services and put your mouse over Your Account in the far right corner of the page. Then go down to Access Identifiers and click on that. Sign in using your same email and password you have for your Amazon affiliate account. Go down until you see Your Access Key ID: which will be a 20 digit number and letter string. Then just below that you'll see Your Secret Access Key: and you need to click show to see it. That will be a 40 digit number and letter string. Important: Make sure you click hide after you have copied your Your Secret Access Key: because this hides the info again. Never give this info to anyone you don't trust because as of August 15th it will control all of your affiliate commissions with Amazon. You need to go into your software and find where to place these 2 Access Key ID's and most software that pulls Amazon products will now have an update that asks for these. I hope that helps you out. |

NetCowBoy, Thanks for that info. So far I'm just using Amazon's own widgets, but I just ordered NichMarketNinja's system which requires plugins, so it's good timing to take care of that before 8/15. |
