Has anybody heard of the World Business Register based in Utrecht, The Netherlands? I looked it up on the web and it appears to be legit. They publish the "World Business Guide". What throws me is that they've spammed me with an application to register with them. The email includes an attached registration form, which I'm not going to download even though my virus scan shows OK. Why is a respectable organization spamming me? Or is it a fake? All the contact details appear legit but that could be deceptive. Has anybody else received a similar email? |

Hi guys These are complete scams - with a long and nasty history to them. You can find out in detail at Jules Woodell's excellent site (I can't post links so search for 'stopecg' in Google) Don't touch 'em! There are quite a few: World Business Register, World Business Directory, World Business Guide, Expo Guide, European City Guide and so on. I've been blogging about this form of scam over the last year - and have a lot of comments from people who have been fooled into signing and returning their documents ("contracts"). Check out the comments here: (search for "expo guide" and click the mukaumedia link to get to my post) Hope this helps - please do let as many people know as you can by commenting / Tweeting / blogging. THIS IS NOT A FREE DIRECTORY LISTING as it appears and will bill you approx £3,000 if you send it back! |
