Selling Expensive Items Online

Hey guys,

I had a question on how to sell high ticket items online.
I have a few scooters in stock and would like to sell them through advertising (Facebook, Adwords and etc).
We also have a local shop where people can test the item (test drive)

I was thinking of advertising the test drive and then selling the here....
What do you guys think? Anybody has experience with smtg like this?

Cheers!

Any PPC ad platform with LOCALIZATION features should help you.

I would focus on advertising through a video landing page though.

Agreed, highly targeted ppc platforms to a video landing page. I would also include a free guide or report on your product of some sort as an exit pop offer so you can follow up. A report on features, performance, capabilities, etc etc

You could do a video Facebook ad that links to your landing page. Offer a free guide/report for the optin, then email your optins with your offer.

Don't just advertise to locals. You still need to target your audience.

Market to locals that want to buy a scooter.

When you say scooters, do you mean mobility scooters or moped-type vehicles?

There's a lot of established competition for either. And I'll bet they can sell them at a lower price. The question is, what do YOU have to offer in addition that makes it worth the customer's while to visit you?

It could be as simple as getting in front of the audience when they're ready to buy...but there's not much barrier to entry in that case, is there.

Who is making the buying decision? If we're talking mobility scooters, is it the elderly user, or their 40-something son or daughter?

What happens just before they realize they have to buy?

Where do they look? What if they don't look online?

You have to find out more about your target market and how they make buying decisions before you figure out how to advertise.

You can do a video review on youtube and link to the site where you sell the items.

I'd say PPC would be great. You can shoot a video and boost the post. You can then laser-target your audience. It would also help if you're creating content. You can shoot videos or do blogs about anything related to scooters.

Thanks for all the great input fellas!
The scooter I am selling is called "two wheeled self balancing scooter".
It's a new trending item that I want to sell to mostly 15-30 age group.

I guess I can do PPC and then lead them to a video landing page.
What I am thinking though is offering a free test drive for 15-20 minutes and then selling them face-to-face.
    What do you guys think?

FYI: 25 czech korunas is 1 US dollar

    These are results

    Nope.
But the Landing Page sucks, I will be working on it with my team.
We will probably shoot a video and invite them to come by and test it in our Store.
I don't see a 500 dollar iteam selling through Facebook ads...

    Is it possible?

      People buy cars online.

You're SORTING for those people who want this thing and are comfortable buying online.

Which means you need more info than product stats. You need reviews. Testimonials from people who have bought from you. They ordered this product, and they got it, and it worked. Doesn't have to be this specific product, but you have to demonstrate reliable delivery of a good quality product.

You are not your buyer. It may take many, many repetitions for this to sink in, but when it does you'll know a genuine "secret".

I have never though of it this way, thanks for the input!

We will now be working on the landing page (Leadpages, videos, testimonials and etc).
Some of my ads got CTR of close to 5% which I guess is good enough.

Any more input is welcome (in case something was missed)
        Much Love WF!

You could probably get some good money off of Ebay with your scooters. Also I would list them up for sale on Craigslist. And on top of that, would create some videos of the scooters, you test driving them, and put them on Youtube and lead the traffic back to your Ebay/Craigslist/contact page to get the order.
