Is blog is the only way to increase traffic?

Hi,
I am managing a web design company's site. I need to increase traffic to my site. Is blog writing and its promotion only way to increase traffic? Many people suggested this idea. But daily updation of blog is difficult in the case of webdesign/ development company. And it will affect social media promotion, if there is no enough blogs/upates in the site. Is any other technique is possible? Submissions are one of the techniques to increase traffic. Can anyone suggest an idea?

There are plenty of traffic-generation methods, but you're working backwards. You need to consider if a traditional blog is the right platform to achieve your goals.

Instead of constant updates on YOUR blog, focus on guest posting on OTHER BLOGS.

    Focus on niche-specific blogs.

Focus on writing guest posts that aren't spammy-ie., obviously keyword stuffed.

Instead, create compelling content that adds value to the blogs that post your guest posts.

You'll get niche-specific backlinks and some direct traffic.

This is a great suggestion, which can still be supported by social media. Plus, don't just think of your blog posts as your only posts for social media. Create graphics for yourself highlighting great snips from your writing or sharing relevant/helpful articles that your audience would enjoy.

There are many ways of increasing traffic. You can use any way, even you can use multiple ways also, if you want. You can continue the Blog. beside the blog, you can do some relevant Forum posting & Social media site. These two ways also play an important role in the field of increasing site traffic. Best of luck. Thanks for your advance.

Blogging is a proven way to gain more traffic, and also to create trust from visitors as they see that the website is updated frequently and doesn't look like a ghost town. In addition to blogging, you can also do guest posting on other posts, writing on LinkedIn Pulse, participating in groups and forums with your target audience, etc.

The main objective is to appear more often in front of your target audience and blogging is one way to help you achieve that (by making your site appearing more often on search engine results).

Based on your opening post and replys may I suggest that you are not at the stage in your marketing career to be able to run and manage a marketing campaign for a company.

I have apprentices that come to me on day one with a more solid foundation of the basics of marketing and so would never ask a question like 'is blog writing and its promotion the only way to increase traffic'.

You're going about it the wrong way.

Who are your prospects? Who do you want to sell to?
Where do they spend their time/attention? If online, where, exactly? If offline, where, exactly?

I know, I know. Your service is for everyone. That's a sure way to kill your success before it's born.

Pick a specific group, find out what they have now and how you're different. Then place ads/posts/videos/sales letters wherever they're likely to find them.

If you were after real estate agents, you'd be on real estate forums, like ActiveRain, and on Linkedin, maybe FaceBook too.

If you were after IM people, you'd be on this forum... offering useful info and FaceBook and, maybe, Linkedin.

There are dozens of ways to increase free traffic.

    Here are just 3:

    1) Niche/topic specific subreddit

    2) Niche Forums

    3) Trade service with influencer in your Niche

If you are just depending on blogging to bring traffic , you have to take part in the SEO game . Not that it doesn't work. It works pretty well. But you have to stay at the top of the Game.

It is possible to get free traffic completely by bypassing Google, specially in the niches other than marketing.

A blog is definitely not the only way to get tons of traffic to your site. Forum marketing is powerful, so is video marketing. Plus, traffic from your own email subscribers are super powerful (they still count as *regular* traffic - even though you market to them everyday). I would also dive into some paid advertising to get some immediate promotion in. PPC and joint ventures are some great ways to get more traffic to the site. Don't forget about mobile marketing also.

Your link for quality content goes to a fiverr gig that starts with:
Let me write your articles posts that are seo friendly to the search engines

I counted several grammar mistakes in those few words, a couple of awkward usages of the English language... not wrong, but quality writers would have said things a tad differently.

Now, your task: find the mistakes, improve your sentence. On your mark, get set, go!

A blog is an awesome way to get traffic. However, by posting alone, it will not create instant traffic. You need to work on promoting your blog posts. You don't need hundreds of articles to get tons of traffic. You can have less than 10 posts but if you're effectively promoting them, you will get an absurd amount of traffic.

Here are a couple of things you should be doing or consider doing, when making a blog post, center it around value. The more valuable the blog post, the more comments, shares and response it will get which will help with ranking it. Focus on doing on-page SEO. I saw you were asking how to do it. It's easy. You'll need an h1, h2 and h3 header with your keyword (You can do this by highlighting the text and pressing ctrl + 1 for h1 2 for h2 and 3 for h3. You'll need at least 500+ words, you'll need one of the keywords in bold, italicize and underline. You'll need an image with your keywords as the tags and you'll need a 2% keyword density which you can get by dividing number of times keyword is in the article divided by total number of words in post.

You should be doing guest blog posts, comment on other popular blogs and you can do FB PPC. As little as $10/day promoting your blog post will create a huge impact. You could also shoot videos with keywords in them and all that.

There are literally so many different ways to create traffic. A simple google search or search here in WF, you'll discover so many.

While doing all this, it's VERY VERY important to be building your list. Don't ever forget that.

In my opinion the best way to get more traffic is still good ole SEO, google is still the biggest site on the net and sends billions of clicks to sites everyday, the game has just gotten trickier, no longer can you blast with crappy links you've got to be more creative, like media baiting to attract links from real sites, you can blog all you like but if your blog posts don't rank on page 1 then you won't get any traffic so getting good quality links is still #1

This. I dare challenge any Warrior to argue that organic SE traffic or SEO in general can out scale paid traffic. You're grossly mistaken.

The blogging idea imo is a poor choice. You don't build brands. Your market builds your brand. Pepsi doesn't build their brand, they market to alter the perceptions to then mirror back to their brand.

Unless you're doing multi millions a year, or you have dominated your local area... Building a brand isn't what you need to focus on.

Building a business is. That means prospects, sales, income, money, employees.

    Instant Traffic Strategies:
    1. Social media marketing - especially Twitter. Join groups, be an active part of discussion, etc.
    2. PPC + other advertising - SMM aside, if you want instant traffic, you need to shell out bucks.

    Long-term Traffic Strategies:

    1. SEO.
    2. Content syndication.
    3. Guest blogging/posting.
    4. Article (directory) marketing.
    5. YouTube.
    6. Slideshare.
    7. Document sharing websites.
    8. Blogs created whose sole purpose is to promote another.

    Returning Traffic Strategies:

    1. Build a list.
    2. Give 'em a reason to come back. That means crazy awesome, gob-smacking Superman content.

    JulietK,

Blogging is effective if you write articles your ideal customer truly cares about (targeted content)
AND most importantly if you spread the post like the plague!

In my opinion, those are the 2 most important points. Oh yeah, and of course you don't want to necessarily spam your blog post link. Just be sure you're sharing it in places where your market is, where it will be appreciated. Facebook groups, message boards. while commenting on similar blogs/websites.

Honestly, a blog is your home on the web, and like a home in real life, if you fill it with garbage and don't take of it, the value will decrease. On the other hand, if you put the time into making it great, filling it with tons of valuable content for your readers, increasing the loads speeds, making it more pleasing visually to your readers, the value will go up. Make sense?

And, If you've got the money, an awesome way to shoot super targeted leads to your blog is through Facebook ads. I just hope you're asking people to sign up for for email list within your articles. If not, lots of wasted potential there... You need some "Call To Action" throughout your articles to prompt/tempt people to sign up with their email. A loyal list is a powerful thing!

    Hope that helps.

A blog can be the springboard for many other techniques, but daily posting can be counterproductive unless you already have a significant audience. One analogy I've seen compares a new blog to an empty classroom, and the blogger is the teacher. It doesn't matter how much content you have or how good it is if no one sees it.

Posting high quality, shareable content 2-4 times per month is plenty when you are starting out.

The rest of your time should be spent promoting that content.

    How?

Several effective methods have already been mentioned.
    • Paid promotions (aka, advertising)
    • Scouting to find where your ideal prospects already hang out
    • Reaching out and building relationships with people that already have the attention of your ideal prospects
    • Getting on the radar of those influencers, and their audience through things like commenting thoughtfully, guest posting, article syndication and others

Your blog is your chance to establish your expertise and authority. Mindless posting and social spamming for the sake of activity tends to have the opposite effect.

Blogging is a great way to increase traffic. But you also have to optimize it SEO on page for it to work. And of course quality content. If you post regularly 3 times a week you will start seeing results. But it takes time sometimes months to see those results from Google traffic.

Also include other strategies like social media, maybe having a daily video blog on Youtube to increase traffic to your site.

YT is a great traffic source, but as always, quality matters.

Guest blogging is another good one, but you will want to already have traffic coming to your own content first.

At the end of the day, having your own blog is very important. People respond to well-written, authoritative content. It can help you win over influencers, and they can provide you with a steady stream of traffic.

If this is a serious question you are in for a treat my friend. There are literary tens of other powerful methods to increase traffic. First you have to read about and learn difference between paid and organic traffic. SEO is one of the very first things you do both on site and off site. I cannot stress enough on this step.
You can use social media as another traffic generation strategy, creating you own social media accounts (for business not personal, remember if you turn your personal account to business you might lose all your work in a blink of an eye if FB picks on you, also turning personal to business causes loss of friend lists and followers). Depending on your target audience you are looking for, pick the right social media, we don't have time here to go into details so read about them.
Do not forget your blog though, keep updating it and promote it in different channels if you can, for instance social media posts, guest writing and paid advertisements.
I would also spend a bit of money on paid advertisements on social media, Google and Linkedin (I believe this option suits your target audience). These are paid traffic that can be good conversions.

    Hope this helps.
    Good luck

Blogging is poweful but unless you are paying for traffic or writing something that's going to go viral like something controversial it can take a while to gain traction.

The thing about a blog on a web design business is there isn't that much to write about. You are better off doing other ways to generate traffic. For example create a free eBook that shows how they can increase their sales with a certain addition to their website such as showing them how to build and email list by giving away a free ebook. This way you can a) build your own list, meaning you have traffic on tap and b) you can sell them your services to install the email autoresponder on their site - this gaining them as a client and gaining their trust.

How do you get traffic to that offer? Social media is easy 'WEBSITE OWNER? Download our free guide on how to increase your sales by X% LINK'.

It's not that hard when you get creative. Paying for traffic is the best though - BUT you need a product to off set the cost of that and work out your margins.

Personally I would concentrate on other methods than just building a blog - but a blog will help you for sure but won't be an instant solution more of a 6-12 month plan.

Perhaps put a personality behind the brand and document that person instead of another 'boring' web design agency.

There are a lot of traffic generation methods. Blogging itself is not a way to generate traffic but it is a way to engage traffic. If you are already generating traffic from social media, I’d suggest sticking to it because the best way to generate traffic is to stick to one method at a time.

Looks like there are some "stuff" you don't like to do either. You could out-source for a small price, but keep the juicy stuff for yourself; such as the guest-posting and forum-posting. In other words, the stuff that is not easy to "mess up", you should do.

You might consider as well, that there are people who generate leads for you with phone numbers and email addresses. You could then send out a standard email to the leads and concentrate on the follow-up which you should NOT out-source. Don't laugh. This stuff works. Amazon uses it!

Write irresistible headlines. Headlines are one of the most important parts of your content. Without a compelling headline, even the most comprehensive blog post will go unread.

ONLY? No. You can go for PPC, except that it's going to cost you. You can take advantage of the social media and other social networks. You go from facebook/twitter/and the like to youtube/vimeo/dailymotion/and the like to stumbleupon/reddit/diigo/ and the like to flickr/pinterest/instagram and the like. There are a lot of tools you can use out there.

    Hy,

internet millionaire's like Neil Patel says, that good content who gets traffic, costs between $50-$100.
What an huge investment for beginner's who start from zero, especially you should write 3 articles each week, that's are $150 each week.

I think the most warriors here who start from zero does not make such an investment, for most people who start from zero, they have no chance to get good amount of traffic?

I wonder on which sites I should submit my $50 content to get 50.000 pageviews or something...to ezine's?

So with good written $18 articles I get no traffic?

    What you warriors think about?

    best regards

There are tons of other methods, from paid advertising, to paid posts in social media to SEO techniques for organic traffic, off line methods like ads in magazines, sms and simple mobie ads or to more complex mobile campaings.
Each of these could be used for a certain type of target audience.

As another has mentioned, social media is a great way to bring traffic to a new site, but it will take time and consistency in sharing high-quality content and interacting with fans and prospective customers. Facebook ads are a great route to deliver traffic, as well, and if you know which demographic you are looking to reach, your can get your CPC quite low.

Hi, Blog writing is just one way to increase the traffic to a certain website. In fact, blog posting is used as a platform where the system and the users get to interact especially through the comments. With live discussion and feedback through the blog, there will be an increased retention capacity and this works to the better of the traffic and ranking of any website. Try sharing the website through social media and just being able to mention the website through your posting and discussion on Facebook. You can also advertise it through google ads among others.

Which of them is best to build a list with small budget around $200?
And how many leads (subscribers) I get with them with $200 budget?

What free content promotion methods/ aggregators are best to generate target traffic?

    Hy,

on Neil Patel's blog is a post about one women who has write an great long article and has get over 100.000 pageviews.

The quiz question is; On which (related to my niche) ezines and blogs I must submit my great written article to get such high pageviews?

Look, when only 10% of them comes to your website, thats are 10.000 visitors!
When then 30-40% convert on your website who is only a big squeezepage.........done you have your 3-4000 subscribers with only one written article!

That is a huge ROI folks.

If your article is like this post of yours, none, as it's not a great article.

If you're talking about a really great article... ezinearticles.com seems to have the most traffic. Average article on ezine converts at 3 or 4%.

30-40% convert on your site? In your dreams... Some of the best sites in the world convert at 12-20%. Your site, you're very lucky if it converts at 2%.

100,000 pageviews doesn't mean 100,000. You can have 100,000 page views from one person, or 50 bots, or 17,350 visitors, for instance.

There's a long way between opt-ins and sales.

Length of articles is not relevant.

Anyway, to bet opt-in rates of 30% and higher, you need to get targeted traffic have a good offer, compelling copy. All three require skill.

To get the ones who opted in to buy, another skill.

Doable? For some... As I said, it requires a lot of skills... A bit more realistic... You get 5000 visitors a month, you sell 20 thinghies.

And even that, not everyone can do.

In a word the answer is "NO". Actually the blogging is a part only. Beside the blogging there are many ways to increase your site traffic. You can use any way to reach your destination. Such as you can use both On-page & Off-page SEO. Then you can create Back Link ( Both Do-follow & No-follow link). You can do the Relevant Forum posting, Blog commenting & so on. You can use multiple way, there is no problem. Thanks a lot.

If you have 5000 visitors and you get 30% of them to join your list you have a list of 1500. You send an email message to your list and 30% open it you've got 450 opens. Of the 450 opens 5% buy, you have 22.5 sales.

      Happy now?

The two important things here are; get always open rate at 30% and opt in rate around 30-40%

Blogging is a content marketing strategy that can generate you traffic if done correctly. From my experience, the best way to generate traffic with a blog is with SEO (search engine optimization). Of course blogging is more effective if you already have an established audience and a big list of email subscribers. You can also run ads on Facebook and send traffic to articles on your blog...there are plenty of courses that can teach you that if you're interested. There are thousands of different ways to drive traffic...blogging is just one of them.

No, a blog is definitely not the only way to get traffic, but it does help..

Things I do for my own ventures are..

In-depth SEO research - especially targeting all the lowest hanging fruits, meaning the keywords I could target on my website that are the easiest to rank for. (lots of free traffic potential)
Offering a very valuable freebie, in your case it could be a free 1 page website for small businesses where you upsell them add-ons (more pages, content, hosting or w/e). People love free stuff and it helps you build relationships. In service based business, referrals are king
Local directory submissions (if I am target local business)
    Hash-tagging on social sites
Branding profile creations on major sites like Slideshare
Guest Post on reputable business blogs where you know your ideal customer is hanging out and write content that lets them see the importance of having a well designed website

    Another great thread...

This is my view ( as a blogger)... I post my blogs on several top ranked traffic exchanges, which, even without much attention to it, gets rated and shoots up the rankings quite nicely

In fact one such exchange I use, increased my rank by over 5,000,000 in just a few weeks. All I did to it was adjust a couple of things.

YouTube is also another goodway of getting good traffic

Your Alexa rank has nothing to do with your traffic... this is just data gathered via the browser toolbar. It is one of the most inaccurate ways to do traffic tracking. Alexa is just some useless pos if you ask me..

Here`s what works for me and mine affiliates:

Don`t post on a daily basis on your blog. Post once a week or maximum once every 3 days. But these post must respect a patter, you should post them at the same hour every day. Bee organised so people can keep track of you.

Also, use social media. Here you should post daily, but do a research first, at what hours are most of the users online? Use this knowledge to your advantage and post in that time frame.

If you have money to spend you can use Google`s or Facebook`s systems.
