Default video salespage vs standard "written" salespage

anybody have any thoughts on how the new, all video salespages are doing versus having a typical salesletter style salespage?

I've seen alot of major launches using the technique lately and wondering what the results are?

FYI, when I say video salespage, I mean a salespage that only contains a video as the salesletter and then the price and buy button below it.

thanks

I think they are doing pretty great since they use it so much, BUT...

Remember that the traffic they are getting is HOT, from JV's and such...your regular everyday guy, looking for some stuff on the internet will not stay to watch your 20+ min video.

They are very good, but I would only use them if I do a launch.

Also, another thing...you have to know what your doing, like REALLY have to know...you can't have your voice all shook up and talking with "mmm" "eehhh" and all that.

Good points!

I'm considering them for a clickbank product launch.

I like the concept and you're right you have to hit the key points you want to emphasize in the video right on with the proper "flavor" otherwise it's lost.

I prefer a video sales pitch to a written sales pitch anyday. Somehow they are always far more memorable. In fact, most of the marketers who use video that I have visited over the last few months have stayed in my mind, like Kevin Riley, Russell Bruson and the mother and duaghter team at whopopsyourpopcorn.com (worth a look!)

Without video I think I would have been hard pressed to remember any of these.

Hello glasshalffull,

I have noticed significant increases across the board when implementing video...ie traffic, sales, subscriptions, etc.,however, I also have extensive professional video production experience. I think in many cases it's a major turnoff for would be customers who have to sit through hideous audio/video quality. The customer may not even KNOW why they don't like it. They'll just lose interest and either hit that RED X in the upper right hand corner or worse yet, go surf to your competition.

Another thought:
You could always do a split test and cross compare your results.

Eric

I understand your point Tracey and agree....but

Does "memorable" translate to "more sales"?

When a launch is happening does a vid SP convert better than a standard SP or is it novelty?

I wonder if it more personal preference from customer to customer or if the masses show an increased metrics with sales?

My personal preference is written, but I've heard that the video sales page does better. I wonder if the video sales page does better with regular customers, where the written might do better with new customers.

Video works really well, as long as other people are not overdoing it. It's whatever other people are NOT doing that works. It's what people are used to that resonates with people. That's why video works, because it's "everyday connection" in a bigger way that just text. A combination of both, kind of liek a video / squeeze page thing is also something to consider. Either way, I like to put BOTH on my blog posts, etc... Really just getting into video a lot recently since I got my FLIP CAM, and it's doing MASSIVE TRAFFIC on YouTube.. like 50,000+ hits in a few weeks.

Some1 mentioned Brunson...on his MC salespage he just used a 2 min video and then he had a sales letter...that you can do anytime with no problems.
But he did it that way because his launch didn't have an end date...it wasn't limited to 7 days or some stuff.

Like I said before, if its not a "limited edition" launch I don't think that a full blown video sales page(not squeeze page) would be a good choice...simply because the guy won't stay to see it all.

I've yet to see somebody getting good conversion rates while bringing traffic from PPC for example to a page that has a 25 min video...I can bet that the conv rate will be below 0.5%.

I've had the opposite results for my software products. I consider myself a better writer than a speaker, but my video sales pages have consistently out performed my written by a significant margin.

How about both? That's what I do for my sales letters and it works great. I have a headline at the top and a short video, but a sales letter below as well.

No idea why it always tests out, but it does.

Regular sales copy also tests better for me than video at the top plus sales copy below.
