$5000 can't start a business you can make a living from... with the exception of a service like cleaning, painting, landscaping etc.

I'm not a lawyer. However, a business is really just a piece of paper with tax benefits, so technically, you could. A lot of people in the States with businesses in all kinds of industries start LLCs (Limited Liability Corporations). Heck, a lot of larger companies (e.g. Youtube) are LLCs, too. However, a lot of people who make money online just make money online and include it as earned income and what not. Where you live in the country matters, too. There might be local laws that effect one person and not another.

No doubt your bias comes because you haven't been able to do it. I have. Many others have.

You can start a business for almost nothing. You can get set up with less than $50 if you're willing to start lean, invest your profits, and work hard.

That's what I would do. Use the remainder of your $5,000 to ramp up your sales . . . but only after your have a profitable system in place.

Create, build, and nurture an email list of subscribers.

Start by making $25/day (that can be one sale). Then ramp up to 3 sales a day. Keep growing your business with the profit you make. Within 6 months you might be making 10 sales a day.

Leverage other people's lists in your market (those you don't directly compete against) to expose your business to new prospects.

Add additional products to your system. Focus on providing great quality products at a higher price. Add a subscription web site for your really fanatical fans. Set up an affiliate system to leverage the hard work of others.

You don't have to have $5,000 to begin a business that pays you a full time income. The best you can do is use that money to do smart marketing.

Essentially that's what I would do:

Test something for a relatively small percentage of the money and then (if it's a "winner") invest the rest of the money into it.

If you're thinking of running an "Information Publishing Business/Website" you can test your idea for very little to see if it works before investing more money into something that may not be profitable.

It really depends on what you want to get into. You kind of have to explore your options. You might decide you like niche blogging, publishing on Kindle, ghostwriting, having a PLR store, Fulfillment by Amazon (most expensive to get started of the options listed, popular for people who have the money and are into physical products) or something else.

I'd have answered this question differently if you'd asked me 12 months ago. Now I'd invest all of that in paid traffic from top PPV sources such as TrafficVance. Then I'd hammer this lovely big world of affiliate marketing.

In paid traffic... for what exactly? A blog? A landing page? ... Yours is like half an answer.

If I had that type of money to invest right now I would do what I am currently trying to do and that is building a mobile marketing agency. In short what I mean is I would use that money to get into mobile CPA marketing.

I would join a forum like Stack That Money and I would begin to obtain the knowledge that I need and use that money.

The thing with mobile CPA is that the whole $5000 could be lost the good thing is that is enough money for you to begin buying data with and with that data you would be able to make better decisions and could probably do some tests and be able to turn that into a huge profit.

I have seen people in CPA marketing who have been able to use less money than this and now they have million dollar companies. Take a look at Charles Ngo for example. He had loans and only about $500 per month to invest and now he has two 7 figure companies.

It all comes with hard work and persistence as with everything in the internet marketing world. You have to be willing to put in the work if you want to see the success.

    Just my two cents

CPA is one avenue for sure. Last year when I explored stackthatmoney.com, they made mention that if you get involved in CPA, you definitely need at least a $1000.

Another option that I would strongly consider is private label FBA. Alun Hill teaches this in his Udemy course which I highly recommend.

Create a great app by hiring ssomeone on elance or upwork to make it for you. Cost you a few thousand and it can pull in $30k a month.

If you're looking for offline business ideas, move to Panama and open a hot dog stand on the beach along with tanning chairs and umbrellas.

I highly recommend a website called side hustle nation. Check it out.

White label products if I had little or no knowledge. You could start with $3000-3500 and have a stable and sustainable business within a year.

Currently establishing a membership/subscription site with about $3000 investment. Which to me, is the best type if you can do it.

I'd invest it in income and value stocks on the stock market and reinvest the dividends. That's $1,100 a year if it follows the DJIA. I'd use $500 a year to build custom blogs and pay for articles with SEO and see how it goes. If it turns out to be lucrative, I would invest more. Actually I have $5,000 to start a business, this is kind of what I'm doing now (About 3k onhand), only the stocks need to perform per annum before I get going. I would always vest in assets before businesses because small businesses fail much more frequently than large businesses. It's a general rule, I think, if you're simply trying to make money, to treat business like an investment.

    this is what I'll do:

    Enter CPA marketing (either desktop/mobile):

$3k: spend it on a good coach. (cuts all the trial and errors and show you underground real affiliate marketing, especially if you are new to this biz)
$2k: initial starting up traffic. (to make even more money).

    just my preference...

Just start by buying a Domain & Hosting, then start writing some article. After posting some content, you can do some SEO to increase your site traffic & page rank. Finally you will be able to choose any way to earn money. During that time you will found many ways to earn such as Affiliate Program, Adsense or, even you will be able to sell your own products if you have. Best of luck.

I'd probably build a fetish porn site dedicated to young dudes who love fat older woman. They're dream is to live off of these women so that they don't have to work EVER (don't ask me how I know this). I would use this site to bring them 1 step closing to achieving that dream.

Then I'd backend them with a dating course for $300. Ads all over the site... pics, clips, and even tube-style videos.

What yall think? (don't steal my idea)

My take is this - invest it in yourself... If you really want a profitable business, "doing what you want or doing what you love is NOT always the best move". If you love kickboxing, art, knitting, crochet, etc. etc. how on earth can you make a fortune out of that? In a gold rush don't dig for gold, instead sell shovels. 5K may not be enough to put you into the shoes of an investor or lender but more than enough to become a big one in profitable niches. Why don't you spend it for new skills that are highly in-demand in today's market like coding/programming, web designing, etc. (e.g. video tutorials, learning materials) and build an online business out of it? The internet has produced more millionaires in the last 10 years than the last 5 decades before it combined! The internet is so powerful, it has scale and magnitude and has the capability to get things on autopilot.

Geesh, Louise why these Threads on an incessant basis.

Bottom line to start an Online Business you only need a fraction of this amount.

Many of us literally got started with a free website and domain.

Although anymore, I strongly advise to get paid hosting and your own Domain.

But it can be done for well under $100

Then you just need to work, work, work and test and work

    1. PPC
    2. SEO
    3. Banner ads
    4. Solo ads

With 5.000 dollars, you could build a tremendous list, and if you're new, Get ahead really fast.
