How do you control yourself from Distractions ?

How you prevent yourself from the distractions? like facebook, games (from a gamer like me ), etc?

These things are wasting-time machine. So, how do you stay focused on IM? I think of serious decisions, like removing my facebook account, delete all games etc.... but, i can't xD

Your thoughts?

    By using intelligence and self-control.

There are no games on my computer, I don't do Facebook, have never tweeted, and have never even texted, once in my life.

Yet, somehow, I feel complete. lol

    Cheers. - Frank

P.S. Once you say, "You can't," you can't.

Removing distractions is certainly important, but ultimately it comes down to self-discipline and self-control. Just say no.

Whatever thing is stopping you, cut off from it completely. If, for example you are a gamer, stop gaming completely until you are in the habit of doing what you need to do everyday. Then you can reintroduce your hobby or distraction and it will be less apparent.

You know what you're distractions are and you know how to fix it. You're just hear trying to distract yourself from doing what you need to do: cut it out of your life.

I don't watch TV I don't know who wins American Idol or Survivor. I have no clue who the Bachelorette is going to choose. Get rid of what's holding you back like a bandaid.

    Rip it out.

You need a bigger, better goal.

If you're excited about what you're doing, you won't be interested in distractions.

If all you're trying to do is "make some money" you won't be excited--unless you're hugely money-motivated.

What dollar level do you get excited at?

What kind of people are you excited about working with?

What subject(s) do you get excited about?

My work computer is a desktop and strictly for working. I don't use it for anything else. This works for me and keeps me focused on what needs done.

My laptop is for doing social media and playing games, or anything else I desire. I'm a firm believer in not mixing work with pleasure, and it seems to work great for me. I'm much more productive this way.

Honesty, I've been thinking about renting an office space for that very reason. It seems like the older I get, the harder it is to get everyone to remember that I do work from home.

I started to say find your passion, but it seems like Facebook and Gaming is it. So, instead of cutting it out. Make them a part of your business model. You may find it hard to believe but there's loads of people making money right now with both Facebook and Gaming. So, if you can't beat them ... join them.
The answer is usually right in front of us - often contained within the problem.

    Visualization and Time Allocation.

If I feel like Im getting distracted I close my eyes and concentrate on my breathing and simply Visualize how good I will feel in a couple of hours after putting in quality work

And I also allocate specific times of the day to goof around as well

Distractions do not occur when ur mind is filled with ur objectives, ur targets, ur aims. In fact u need to divert ur mind at times to feel distracted and experience other things in life too.

Distractions occur when ur feelings are not strong towards what u'r trying to achieve.

Distractions occur when u give priorities to other things, whether relevant or not it totally is subjective, but ur aims.

To avoid distractions, think about ur goals, what u'r tryin to achieve, how would it feel when u will achieve that, etc. and u will generate the feelings so strong that u will loose urself in them momentarily. For that to happen ur objective must be somethin that ignites spark within u.

This is excellent advice. I'm sure you've heard something similar before that was maybe couched in slightly different words.

Unfortunately, many people ignore the 'mindset' and 'motivational' stuff, thinking that they can bypass all that and just focus on the right techniques and methods to get where they want to go.

You need to have a 'why' that is bigger and stronger than the distractions, difficulties, roadblocks and challenges which you'll inevitably encounter along the way to success in internet marketing.

If your 'why' is not big enough, you'll find excuses and reasons not to continue. Trust me on this, your mind will be like a flickering candle in the wind that will be manipulated by its every whim.

What is your why? Why do you want to succeed in internet marketing?

You have to find this 'why' yourself. No one else can give it to you, because it is personal and relates directly to you. Spend some time digging into your heart and mind to discover what that is, and once you've found the proper answer distractions will never be as bothersome again.

I turn off my Internet connection.

    I don't bring my devices.

I go to a really crowded place filled with TONS OF PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW.

    I focus.

I put in my 3 hours of work a day.

    I go home and relax.

The key is to EARN A FULLTIME INCOME off 3 or less hours of work per day.

I am working on more Passive Income projects so I'm trying to get down to 3 hours of work per WEEK.

Eventually, the hope is to get down to 3 hours per MONTH.

Much better than the 10 hours per day I used to work when I had a JOB. I only got paid for 8 and since the 2 is preparation I did from home, those 2 hours were basically free for my former employer.

Hey you also have to remember: your focus creates your reality.

So if you focus too much on wasting time. Your reality is not going to change.

If you live with your parents, or you work a day job. Your going to always need those things if can't give up trivial things.

Successful people work like machines. They do not stop. What are you trying to do? You have to have a clear understanding of that.

Have you actually made any money online yet? If so you should see how much work it took or how long it takes. You gotta focus.

You need to stop using denial vocabulary.

You don't have a distraction problem. You have an addiction problem. Distractions are things or events that happen outside of your control that prevent you from focusing on doing something.

Choosing to play a game over doing something else because you can't resist the urge is an addiction, not a distraction.

In a sense you are right that discrat's answer was, according to you, "the first valuable comment", because others gave you good ideas for a distraction problem, which you said you have but in fact do not have. Not their fault for answering your problem according to what you said it is.

Discrat's comment included visualization as a solution, which would appeal to someone fighting against an urge, where your addiction is in control, not you.

You need more help than anyone here can give you. If you really had a distraction problem, discrat's and the others' comments would have struck home with you, but they didn't.

This is an Internet Marketing forum. We're marketers here, not shrinks.

You should seek professional help for your addiction. It might not take as long to overcome as you think. But you need to quit watering it down by calling it a distraction problem and face this addiction head on for what it is.

You could start by visiting a forum that addresses gaming addiction, joining a group, and getting in touch with some people who can help you.

I also think this is your issue..There is a BIG difference between distraction and addiction.. Search deep inside yourself to figure out if you are addicted to FB and games? Try this just for one week..Try dedicating two hours (could be split up) a day for FB and games just for a week and see if you're disciplined enough to do this..Now if you can't, then you might have bigger issues on your hands..

Decide what is more important to you. The distraction or working on IM. Sometimes removing the distraction helps keep you focused.

For eg. we had our TV cable service removed from our home. No TV, less time watching it and more time to focus on talking with the family, doing our IM business, etc.

    Thought I'd share that.

Why do you wake up every day? What is your "why"? What is your goal in life?

When your "why" becomes greater than anything else - you wont be distracted anymore.

When I was starting out building my business, my "why" was so great that sometimes I worked 15+ hours straight, without leaving my chair once. I know that my "why" is so great, that nothing else is more important than that.

Just create a schedule, 1-2 hours of gaming, 5-6 hours of IM.

You don't need to go extreme to succeed as long as you can FOLLOW the schedule.

It takes self discipline. You have a business goal but can't meet it because you like Facebook and games and stuff like that. You like those things more than meeting your business goals. It's about priorities.

I don't know what is so interesting about Facebook. I can't stand it myself... and games ...not for me either. Make a plan and stick to it and reward yourself with games after you achieve your daily goals or work plan. Get in the habit of doing that as a reward.

Don't eliminate, moderate. Set time aside for the things you enjoy, and for working on your business. I use to-do lists which are prioritised. Get this and that done then time to relax. Important point, you should be working ON your business, not IN your business. In other words, everything you do should be to simplify, automate, or eliminate time-sucking tasks involved in running your business. This alone should give you more time to enjoy the things you enjoy. There is no such thing as "not enough time". Everybody has the same amount of time in a day. It is how you go about getting done what needs to get done that makes the difference.
