Advice please! Multi-regional website: US and UK???

Hi,

I'm sure someone here will have experience with this but I'm not sure where to start! If there is a thread anywhere that answers my questions, then please accept my apologies and point me in the right direction!

I want to make my new website available to customers in the UK and the US. There is a healthy market for my product in both countries. I'm fairly new to online business, but I've been doing a lot of research over the last few months (thank you warrior forum!) and I think I now have a pretty firm grasp of what needs to be done.

But the information regarding my product, and the pricing etc. is different, depending on where you come from.

So, is it possible, and if so, what is the best way to go about showing a similar website in both the UK and US, but with 20% of the pages different depending on the reader?

I have bought my domain: www.domain.com. I have read about sub-domains and from what I gather the best thing to do (particularly for SEO purposes) is to go for addresses that look like: uk/domain.com and us/domain.com. Apparently with this set up big G doesn't mind too much about the other 80% of the content, which will obviously be duplicated on each sub-domain.

Is that correct?

If anyone can share their experiences in this area I would be super grateful. Also any advice on making the most of my SEO using these domain structures would be gladly recieved.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

John
