Does email scraping means just extracting all the emails that are on the site (for example someone may leave his email in a post -someone may leave it as a signature but it's available )? or it does mean also extracting all the emails including the emails that people used to register in the site?

Scraping Email means scrape the emails from a post or webpage maybe from signature or else where but not the personal email lists of a site.

Yes there is also some advance guides to do the second one i don't think posting a link is ok.

Scraping emails gives you unauthorized access to people that have not given you permission to contact them.

In addition, it gives you a random list of email addresses that are typically not targeted to a market - so it does you little good if you want to make money from your list.

Sending emails to such a list will give you a bad reputation, make people on the list mad, and could get your email account shut down.

Would you like your email inbox filled with spam from others scraping your email address from a web site?

      Don't do it.

But I'd like to know does scraping just list all the emails listed on the pages of the site or it goes deeper than that? because what is the use of the software that do scraping because anyone can do the process manually, like to check the pages and see whether there's an email or not? or scraping do give another emails like the emails people used to register in the site?

@brianjames1 E-mail scraping does not only have the function of scraping emails... Depending on the creator, it can goes much much MUCH deeper than that... deep till even their Primary or personal email appear, phone number, etc etc

Scraping is generally are data mining which most Lead generation company use to sell it via offline marketing but hardly admits it.

Be careful where you scrap the data, as when some site like FB caught you scraping off it, your account could easily terminated or suspended.

I agree with Steve B in his advice not to use email scrapping software or purchase scrapped lists to do email marketing.

Unless those were double opted in subscribers, you'll have yourself black listed by internet/email providers in no time. Also it has become illegal in many countries (CAN-SPAM act) to do so.

There are more sustainable ways of getting email subscribers: e.g. producing content, offering a white paper or access to something of value in exchange for email address.

Quick correction. CAN-SPAM is a USA regulation which does not actually prohibit sending unsolicited commercial emails. It simply lays out requirements so that the recipient a) knows it's spam and b) knows who sent it.

Other countries have much more restrictive laws with much harsher penalties.

You are correct in one thing, though. You DO NOT want to get blacklisted. About fifteen years ago, I found myself on a blacklist. Turns out the IP used to belong to a porn site that spammed bot viruses all over the net. Suffice it to say that I had to jump through more hoops than a pack of circus dogs to get cleared. It hasn't happened again, thank goodness. I take pains to stay squeaky clean and under the radar.

Correct, but it does mention scraping emails as a violation of the law.

The CAN-SPAM Act has certain aggravated violations that may give rise to additional fines. The law provides for criminal penalties - including imprisonment - for:

There are no shortcuts in this game.

Scraping is a shortcut and is completely unethical. It seems like a quick way to get things going.

But don't take the "bait" !! It is not worth it in the long run

If you scrape my email, I will not only hit the "mark as spam" button, but will do my best to contact your ISP and alert them. I'm not alone.

I don't say this to be confrontational, but to let you know that it's probably a bad idea. People are getting more tech-savvy, not less, and strategies like this are (thankfully) dying out very quickly.

if your pitch can grab attention and spark interest, the people you sent email to might just read it entirely. so you better take your best shot when sending unauthorized email

What you're talking about is spam, plain and simple. My advice is to steer clear of this shady grey market tactic and focus on proven, legit list growing techniques. That is unless you like the prospect of having your Aweber or Get Response account shut down to numerous spam complaints.

I hate it when people spam me after they've harvested one of my emails this way. Each time I click unsubscribe and report as spam and I suspect the majority of others do the same thing as me.

Email scraping is the process of collecting email-address from different web pages and emails. Email scraper can provide you email-address, name and other information you want by customized search option.
