Confused Newbie- Niche Issues!

This is the great chicken or the egg question.

Many people find their passion in the process of building a business and watching it become profitable. They don't care whether they find the particular niche interesting. Often they outsource their writing.

Others want to create their own content and are happier writing or talking (video) about subjects that interest them.

The perfect mix is a topic you're interested in that has a marketplace.

If your topic has no buyers you're dead in the water.

I had the same issue when I first got started. The answer is simple, really. You choose a niche that you enjoy (so you'll stick with it and so it easier to connect with your audience and already know about products in the space) AND one that's profitable. For instance, cooking and the wedding niche are both profitable. Pick one and go for it. Oh, these niches are very visual, so make sure to make use of social media sites like Pinterest, where the majority of people on the site are women, and others.

Zeda it helps if you are interested in your niche, but it has to be a hungry market if you are going to make money in that niche. I don't believe you can always profit from your passion if there isn't a buyer market for your particular passion. I would also bring up a search engine and do a search for your root keyword to see if anyone is advertising. Also go to Clickbank to see if there are at least 3-5 products in your niches. I'd agree with the folks that have said that a hungry market is key.

Additionally, get off the web for a few days and talk to real people. If you have a product or service, pitch it to them as if you had it on hand. See if they're willing to buy it from you.

If you just want to monetize an informational website, ask people what they think about topic XYZ. Try to start actual conversations - do their eyes glaze over? Do they come alive?

Obviously the amount of people you know personally isn't representative of everyone on the internet. However, if it's a broad niche like the ones you mentioned, you likely know people interested in those topics. Talk to them. Listen to the actual words they use. Do they prefer to say "my faith" instead of "my religion?" Or "wellness" instead of "health?" Arbitrary examples, but when you start to learn the specific language of your niche, you understand what they actually need, want to talk about, etc.

Even better, they understand that you understand. Understand?

I think you should go into the niche that is hungry. Don't do what interests you because (alot of the times) there isn't a niche big enough to create a huge business in.

Just go after niches that are ripe and has little competition. After you've made a ton of money and you're good financially.... go and start your personal site/dream and become an expert in whatever interests you.

What exactly do you want to achieve?

Help people? Make money? Share your interests? etc

Define what it is you want and let that drive your choice.

I would say both your options are viable. You can start with what interests you as that also means you will stay in there when things get tough.

Secondly looking at the stats from your research will 'indicate' what people are looking for and help you make an informed choice as to what to proceed with..

Now if your interest is Underwater Basket Weaving' then you can expect that it may not make any money as not too many people will be interested.

Please remember that what people are actually BUYING is not the same as what people are SEARCHING (except you were referring to buying keywords.

I would rather find out what people are buying and see if any of my niche choices are selling on Amazon, Clickbank, JVZoo or the Warrior Forum for instance.

Grab a sheet of paper and see which one really really interests you.

You seem to have some handle on SEO and it is a niche so why not start with that then if you have the time you can try the others you listed. Trying all in one go = overwhelm!

Seriously, just start with one, see if it is profitable (has buyers) then try the next until you find that special niche.

if you play adsense I think niche fashion houses and good because the niche HPK (high paying keywords) if you want to learn I will try to help, do not need SEO and backlink you can get thousands of visitors

Research, research and more research. While its ok to do something you're passionate about, is there a demand for it?

Once you've done your research and find there is demand for your product, your niche selection and everything else will easily fall into place

You have to go where the money is... where are people wanting to spend money?

Of course it's great that you have passions and you can surely make money out of your passions as long as people are willing to spend money on what it is that you have to offer.

There are a few good niches out there that there is an endless supply of people..

Here are some examples;
1. Home Business niche
2. Network marketing niche
3. Internet marketing niche
4. Health and fitness niche
5. Dating and relationships niche.

Those are some examples and to give you something to think about.

Are you looking at setting something up yourself... because if you are then you need to make sure you know your target market really well and you can help answer their problems.

If you are looking at partnering with a company... perhaps affiliate marketing... then what problem is your company solving for people?

If you can find a Niche that interest you and you have some passion and knowledge with...well then it will only help.

Many times it is not necessary, though.

There are several Niches Iam in that I do not necessarily have a huge interest in but I have a huge interest and passion in running a business within those Niches

Does that make sense ?

Go over to source-wave dot com and view one of the videos. Give the site a "like" on facebook and they will give you a free pdf to download that lists a number of "high end" niches. If nothing else, it will give you an idea of some of the possibilities out there that most people do not consider.

I've done better in niches I know something about or have business experience in.

It's best to stick to hobby type niches these days, it is very hard for a newbie to rank in "business" related niches these days.

You need to end up being passionate about your business, passionate about helping your audience, passionate about the JOURNEY of building our business as much as you are passionate about where it will take you.

You can get there by starting with your passion and working back to find compelling desires and commercial opportunities or you can dig into potential niches and come at it that way.

The technique I have always worked best for me and my clients is to start with their passions - 9/10 times we find a compelling business around those passions. You can always go back and try the other approach is you come up empty, unconvinced or change your mind after testing viability around an idea related to your passion.

Sounds good that you are now interested in starting your own website. Since you have been a writer already, it would be easier for you to update your website with content.

Well, about choosing a niche, choose one that is a combination of your interest and also that has the potential to earn.

If you can't find a good combination, go for a niche that has the potential to make you make. Once money starts rolling in, you will find interest in the niche setting in.

Even if you have 20% interest in the niche, pick it. Because you are not starting a website to just make conversations through articles but to build a real business. Is that right?!

A business system is something that gives you good income not necessarily the type of job you want or enjoy doing. A hobby is not necessarily a system that gives you some income but is something that you enjoy doing e.g. fishing, cycling, etc. The former is about the needs of other people while the latter is about your selfish needs. :-)

If you don't choose a niche that interests you, that you know something about, that you can be passionate about, that you are willing to spend many hours and days learning about, that you can stick with even when things aren't working well, then you will NOT succeed.

If you're producing your own content, choose a niche that is of interest to you. But it still needs to be something that a fair number of people are curious about.

You have to find a happy balance between what interests you and what looks good in whatever keyword tool you are using.

The best combination would be the niche which you have most passion about and at the same time it is also has hungry or rabid buyers. My suggestions is you better you do more research on each of your interested niches to see how big the buyers on that niche. You can start by joining some affiliate programs out there like clickbank, jvzoo, cj, etc and see whether lots of products have been created at that niche and see also whether many affiliates want to promote them. If you find many products created and many affiliates promote them then you can be sure that it is a worth to try niche.
