How to start as Amazon Affiliate or Clickbank affiliate as a first timer?

Hello,
I am at a stage where I am consuming too much information without taking any action. I feel my mind is frozen and lost as to which direction to head.

Affiliate marketing is something I want to learn. However, I don't have a blog or any website yet. Has anyone started Amazon Affiliate site right from day 1 or should I first build a blog or authority niche site and then get on Amazon/Clickbank affiliate programs?

Please advise.

First build authority site, collect email list, provide value and then promote affiliate products.

Everyone starts from the bottom when they are starting out, so don't let that worry you. The most important things for you to do are to learn and take action on what you learn. When it comes to affiliate marketing, you should create a blog and build a list (pretty easy with Wordpress, did it on my first try). It's important that you get your own domain name and hosting, so that you can control the content on your site.

However, the first step in the process (before you get a domain and all that stuff) is to figure out what market you want to be in. For example, do you want to be in the health and fitness or electronics sector, dating and relationships niche, sports, etc. When you're starting out, it helps if you go into a market that you already know a little something about, so you'll be familiar with some of the products and be able to more easily connect with your audience when you're promoting whatever products you've chosen from within your particular niche.

    Good luck,
    Joey

You can spend your whole time learning and learning and never taking any action because you don't feel that you know enough.

We all get caught up in that cycle a times. Especially if we aren't sure what to do and what will work.

Ok so you have to work on becoming a producer not a consumer.

What I mean by that is that 80% of your time you should be focusing on producing content, building your list, setting up campaigns promote... activities that will be focused on income producing activities.

The other 20% of your time you can focus on learning.

With regard to affiliate programs you want to partner with a company that is going to offer you 50 to 90% commissions. Don't do the little commission ones of 5% etc because you will be doing the same amount of work anyway... So you want to be working on the ones that offer the bigger commissions.

There are five markets that tend to have an endless supply of people ...
    1. Fitness and health niche
    2. Dating and relationship
    3. Home Business \
    4. Network marketing
    5. Internet marketing

Go where the people are and partner with a company in these niches.

If you want to bounce some ideas off me... happy to help out.

    Cheers

Build an authority site from the start where you promote Amazon and clickbank products. Make sure to also build a list from day 1.

  • Thank you! everyone who has responded. This gives me some direction. I have few ideas for authority niche sites and will do more research on picking an idea that may have good potential plus interests me.

@Tiff - Warning! I may take up your offer

Do both. And listen to Jan Roos as he is very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff with Amazon.

You could very much do the Authority Amazon Site.

But also you could consider a "non- Amazon Authority" Site with several Amazon Niche Sites

    Both.

The terrific thing about both Amazon and Click Bank is the absolute mind-boggling diversity of their marketplaces. When you leverage this opportunity, you're able to dive into juicy markets, the type of markets that tick the right boxes: weak penetration points due to inadequate competition, evergreen, buyers as opposed to looky-loos and freebie-seekers, and a market segment so well defined that you can potentially carve out an authority position in a key area of interest.

In all honest, this is a huge undertaking, and you'll need to use many of the responses in your thread here as springboards for further education. Provisionally, I'd suggest, based on the information in your post, developing an authority site and promoting key products from both marketplaces. And, as someone suggested, Jan, I think, be sure to collect opt-ins from the get-go. "Marketing" and "re-marketing." With this type of business setup, you need to view list growth really as business growth. The bigger the list, the bigger the business. Fundamental.

    hello,

I just started this month with promoting clickbank products as an affiliate. I have to say i haven't earned a dime. I have spend almost 300$ but got absolutely 0% ROI.
i have tried to make campaignes on advance, adknowledge and jemamedia. they all require a minimum deposit of 1000$, i simply don't have that money. I'm just a student.
jema media was full and didn't accepted new affiliates.
    this is what i did.
i made direct linked ads on clicksor, got 521 clicks within 24hr but 0 sales, promoting a weight loss product. (tried facebook and google but don't aprove this ad)
then i made landing pages on landingi and connected the ad to the landing page. and ran a campagne on adhitz promoting a ''make money online'' product. i got about 100 clicks on my ad and collected 9 e-mails. but still no sales. i totally spend 250$-300$ and i see no future. im about to give up. i run out of options. run out of money. and i just can't make that first sale. what am i doing wrong ??? what can i do ? i just want to make an income online instead working at a supermarket or bar. i really need help or i have to quit and i don't want to quit...

Niches such as weight loss are highly competitive, so when your starting out with PPC it's better to choose a less competitive niche.

Also, direct linking to Clickbank products generally doesn't convert well because the visitors aren't pre-warmed to what they are being sold on the sales page. So if you're direct linking in a highly competitive niche such as weight loss, you'll find it very difficult to break even, let alone make an ROI.

The most commonly recommended network to promote Clickbank is Bing ads, so consider using them. You can get a free $50 coupon if you've never used Bing ads before.

This thread is a very good resource for guidance about using Bing ads. If you want feedback about your landing page, you can post it in this thread and you'll get advice on how you can improve it, as other Warrior's have done. http://www.warriorforum.com/pay-per-...rks-works.html

  • Appreciate everyone's responses. So, here's a summary of all the replies
Do both, i..e, start a authority niche site and affiliate marketing
Build list - This will help to market affiliate products/services as well as my own, if/when I create them

Question - Timing of both. I read in some posts that if a site does not have enough quality content then Amazon and Clickbank will cancel my account. So, is it a good plan to build my authority niche site and have high quality content
    - may be 5-7 or 8-10 pages for launch
    - Then adding a blog post at least weekly/bi-weekly
    - Start bringing traffic via PPC or CPA
    - Start trying out affiliate products/services and recommending valuable ones

    Does this sound good?
