Google Analytics - Good or Gamble?

Hello

I was going to setup google analytics for my blog, but after some research I found some negative (if true) sides of the tool:

A person claims that his pages got pushed down in the search results as they where all affiliate pages, that didn't stay on to long. This means that google analytics are collecting data from your site, and actually "nerf" your rankings.

Can this be true? and if so, how long should a visitor stay on your site for google to grant your site "a good visitor expereience"?

Looking at the Alexa data I've seen many sites ranking #1 with 80% bounce rates outranking sites with far better %. No doubt they track visitors who click back after they've clicked on a search result and they'll be especially interested in how fast they've clicked the back button! But they don't need your Google Analytics data to do that. Nor do they need it to determin if a site is just a collection of aff links.

    Best,

    Johan

I was actually thinking the same thing. Google can obtain the information without the use of their tool.

Think I'll will set it up right now, using the WP-pluging

      Thanks for your answers

If your site is going to get sandboxed it is going to happen whether you are using Google Analytics or not. GA provides great data and an unbeatable price (Free).

I guess an alternative would be GetClicky, it works a treat if you post your website to social media sites etc.

Back on subject, I don't think its true - if anything that guy was just annoyed that google was telling him the real deal.
