Any advice on making a financial affiliate site?

My experience in the past is owning a fashion blog site, Ive never made any different kind of website before.
I dont want to go back into fashion so I was thinking of niches with desperate buyers, I was thinking of making a financial site/blog.

Would it be better to make 1 big financial authority site covering different financial niches like Motley Fool or BankRate?
or
Is it better to make like 7 little sites covering niches like Student-loan-help.com and i-need-insurance.com etc (I know those are prob taken, Im just giving examples)

My problem with smaller sites is that it will be impossible for me to update 7 different websites with articles on a continual basis to get them ranked on Google, it will also be impossible for me to send traffic to 7 different websites and post 7 articles a day on FB, Twitter, etc.
But itll be easier for me to update 1 mega site and send traffic to 1 site.

Btw Im thinking long term. Like I start now knowing Ill make 0 but in a few years it will start making good money.

I just wanted suggestions now so I dont make a huge mistake in the beginning.

A mega site has very many posts / articles. So you're thinking that it is easier to "get traffic" to a site with very many posts/articles, than it is to send traffic to a few mini-sites.

How many sales are you figuring you will get?

Your monetization, will it be adsense?

I think your biggest mistake will be not giving your website the character it requires in order to result in the income you're thinking of.

Additionally, why can't you start your website small and build it up along with the traffic? Isn't that what you will be doing with a mega-site anyway?

Wouldn't it be easier to send traffic to a few quality posts/articles than to a mega-site of posts/articles?

"All the above are just questions posed for the OP to continue his own deliberation"

Thanks for responding. I would be promoting affiliate programs like credit cards, insurance leads, mortgage refinance, etc.
The reason I was thinking of a mega site is because of a potential bigger pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Also it would be easier to have more topics to write about on a larger site than having to ONLY write about student loans everyday.
But if thats not correct then that's what I'd like to know.

I started a blog many years ago an dont know if microniche sites would do better for me now than a larger umbrella site.

Starting with one mega authority site is a better idea and will also bring in more money and traffic in the long term.

And financial niche being a hot market - you can try and integrate all these topics into one authority site - Credit Cards, Loans, Savings Accounts, Mortgages, Current Accounts, Debt, Cash ISAs, Stocks and Shares ISAs, Credit Report, Travel Money, Prepaid cards, Business, Finance, Share Dealing, International Money Transfers, International Bank Accounts, Car Insurance, Home Insurance, Travel Insurance, Life Insurance, Public Liability Insurance, Landlord Insurance, Pet Insurance, Van Insurance, Motorbike Insurance, Business Insurance, Caravan Insurance, Over 50's Life Insurance, Holiday Home Insurance, Payment Protection, Mortgage Protection, Health Insurance, etc.

Update the site with all articles regularly. There are new type articles and informational guides on these niches as well.

Monetizing this type of site with CPA will be best along with going for AdSense.

And the final part is promoting the site and ranking it on Google.

Since no one else has asked it:

Your background is in fashion, what qualifies you to write on finance (personal or otherwise)? What can you say that a layman hasn't heard 100 times before?

The fact that you can't even think of a way to house the project, and that your focus thus far is only in what you think you can sell, makes me wonder if this niche is right for you.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but the last thing the Internet needs is more basic (and probably bad) money advice.

I ask a similar question. Have you any experience in Finance. In Australia you need to have a license and give disclaimers to give money advice. I understand you will just be writing articles etc but unless you have some pretty hot advice I think you may have some problems getting established as an authority on the matter. Would it not be easier to do some banner advertising on Finance blogs that are already getting traffic. I am not sure what the costs would be but worth a look.
Your best angle might be to target your existing target audience through your fashion business and offer save money through thrift shopping or starting your home business repurposing other peoples clothes. Heck I am sure I have seen a reality show about the Thrift Clothes shopping. You could then put banners to the financial affiliate banners.
      Hope that helps
