Advice sought for creating product comparison website

I am looking for suggestions on how one might easily and affordably create a product comparison website to earn click ad revenues. Here is my situation.

I have owned the domain name VehicleAd which is a dot com for about 15 years and it has been dormant for most of that time (as I have not known what to do with it).

The idea would be to scrape legally available product information about new vehicles on an ongoing basis so the website would have the latest information for people to compare their choices when looking for a new car.

As I cannot sell actual cars as an affiliate, the idea of an affiliate website does not make sense for this niche, unfortunately.

Instead, all I can do with this website is present comparisons between various new vehicles (on base price, mileage economy, engine HP, and other common features) and generate click ad revenue throughout the website.

My questions are as follows:

1) Can anyone offer tips/experience/suggestions in setting up such a website?

2) How can the scrapes be automated and not violate other websites copyright?

3) I am currently looking at this WordPress theme for my website ….
Compare Price Comparison Theme - AWESEM.com
Does anyone have experience with this theme or can recommend another WordPress theme as a better solution?

Hopefully this is a topic that many people can benefit from, and I thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I am just going to throw an idea in here. Not really sure how to implement it but you might get an idea to run with. Your site is called Vehicle ad so I am thinking that perhaps you could approach some local car sales yards and see if they want to advertise on your site. Kind of a mini craigs list. You could set up some sort of referral agreement so if the sale came from your site you got a commission. You could then set up a facebook page or group and post when these sales are coming up. I am sure that there could be a quick way to provide this information and keep it updated.
There have been a few WSOs over the years talking about local directories. You have an aged domain so it should not take long to get ranked.
    Best of luck

Thank you Jenelle I do appreciate your taking the time to post your ideas.

Indeed I tried that approach about a decade ago and set up a selling script on the site, and tried to do exactly what you described. It was an impossible sell in my area.

Offering zero name recognition and zero traffic, every dealership I spoke with either preferred to have their own website or use ebay.

It was a few year try for me and then I shut it down.

I also tried to develop a service where people could register their personal vehicles to carry paid ads from advertisers in the form of decals on the doors and wraps.

I had many people sign up their vehicles but zero interest from advertisers. It was an impossible sell. So I shut that down too.

For these reasons, the one and only way to make money from this type of a domain name is to figure out a way to send traffic to it using content, and then get the site visitors to click on google ads.
