Need Some Traffic Advice

I have had my blog/website up for about three weeks. So far, I am averaging 80-100 visitors per day. However, so far, no sales. The purpose of my site is, to offer reviews on products and services such as internet security, airport parking, luggage, wireless home security, identity theft protection, and more. I have tried to promote products from Commission Junction. Many of the advertisers such as Lifelock have rejected my application.
Maybe I have not narrowed down my niche enough to a more specific audience.

I have been searching for ways to create more traffic to my site. Today, I watched a video on creating a Bing Ads campaign. However, my budget is extremely tight.

Over a year ago, I hurt my knee. Workers comp. Still unable to drive a car, or work any type of job. I worked in the airline industry for over 25 years. However, due to permanent nerve damage in my right knee/leg, I can no longer work in the airline industry. I simply cannot pass the required physical exam. For these reasons, I started three different websites, to create my own home based business. But so far, each of these sites/blogs have not produced many views or sales.

Yes, I have created several YouTube videos to help promote each of my blogs/websites. I even wrote a book on the airline industry, and posted a chapter on three different publishing sites.

At this point, I am simply lost as to what I need to do to create more traffic to my sites, without spending a lot of money.

If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    Hi
Need help in traffic, Well as you might be aware there 2 types of traffic,
    Paid traffic and Free traffic
Let me tell you something about the free traffic, its not really free as you need to invest a lot of time in to it. I look at time is money.
as you are tight on budget then going for time investment traffic is the best way,
the good way of bringing more traffic that works for me is to blog-hop

Blog hop is going on to other people website that has so much traffic in the niche your in and communicate and join the conversation. So basically make people know who you are and they will want to find out more about you so they will visit your site and try read about you.

Try and build a email list as selling direct sometimes works but not all the time.
when building a list build a relationship with your list that is known by KLT
    KLT mean KNOW,LIKE AND TRUST.

ONCE YOU LEARN HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE OR LIST KLT YOU THEN PROMOTING YOUR PRODUCT AND SELLING BECOMES WAY MORE EFFECTIVE AND EASIER.

Try finding 1 or 2 free traffic method and master them and stick to it. If you keep switching around trying different ways then it just get frustrating and nothing seems to work. Also try use more social media and don't spam just be your self and trust me it works.

Having worked in the airline industry for over 25 years, I can honestly say, I always carried a set Bose Noise Cancelling Headsets with me.
Write with humans in mind. When you mention the product name over and over, you tip the person off to the fact that you're trying to sell them something. Just write naturally.

Also, you need some content on your site that is there simply to solve a problem for the visitor and not to sell them something. If they want to read about products, they can just go to Amazon.

I'm not a fan of the site design. I think you should get rid of the photograph, set a static homepage, create a logo, etc.

TLDR: create a brand and produce valuable content.

I think his traffic is not that bad given that the blog has only been up three weeks. He needs to convert that traffic into subscribers and post his posts to Facebook and do some paid promotions that link to a landing page.

I think Facebook paid traffic is better quality traffic than most paid traffic.

I would sell the site on Flippa.com if you do not start making money in the next six months.

Whilst I agree that traffic in thousands has generally bigger chance of sales than traffic in hundreds, we cannot also discount the quality of traffic. 200 targeted traffic are far better than 20 thousands who are just passing through.

Thank you for your reply, comments and suggestions. I have considered Bing Ads, but not sure how effective that would be. Google ads may be the way to go.
The purpose of this site is, to provide information and reviews on products, and services to allow people to enjoy life. Reviews on on products such as internet security, airport parking, luggage, wireless home security, and more. However, I wonder if my "niche" is way too general, and not specific enough.

    Forget traffic. For now.

    Why

Whatever you do, do not spend a cent on BingAds, as you mentioned, nor devote a single second of energy to any other form of traffic campaign, free or otherwise. Your website is simply not ready for visitors.

    Example Problems:

    - The purpose of your site is not immediately obvious.
    - Weak overall design.
    - Top image is a waste of real estate and is not centered.
    - Titles are not geared to generating interest.
    - Too many ads.
    - Monetization design is ugly.
    - Newsletter field is lumped at page-bottom (use a popup and put a form at top right).
    - Poor navigation (throw boring items in the footer).
    - Overall - uninspired, bland.

If I had longer, I could go on.

    Suggestion

This is not one of my markets. What I suggest you do, before even sorting out the website, is make sure that the business has legs. Seek out similar sites and determine their traffic levels and where they generate that traffic (reverse website engineering). Do they receive 5K hits a month or do some receive 500K? If you can determine income viability, then proceed with sorting out the design. I've given you a few suggestions above but they're not remotely all inclusive. Do your research.

    Traffic

The reverse engineering portion above will give some insight with regards traffic. A further suggestion: issues of safety and privacy and whatnot frequently enjoy high levels of engagement on social networks. If I were you, I'd take a look and see if other marketers (or I suppose non-marketers) have addressed this subject by way of social platforms. Do any big FB pages exist? Any FB groups? Twitter accounts? Examine them, if so. Learn from them. How they monetize, the type of content that receive most engagement, how they communicate with their audience, the website they use (take the good ideas). Use all of that info to put together your own platforms.

At this point, then, forget hunting for traffic.

    - Ensure there is money to be made.
    - Research.
    - Upgrade website.
    - Build one traffic platform at a time.

It's not all doom and gloom. You've taken action, which is commendable. You just need to back-track and take the right kind of action.

Thank you Tom, for taking the time to provide valuable suggestions and research ideas. I greatly appreciate it. I will take your advice to see what (if any) money there is to be made from the topics and products I focus on. It may be far too general, and not inspiring enough. My goal was, to focus on writing reviews, and articles. However, this may not be the right niche. But I will stop worrying about traffic, and focus on finding a much narrower niche, where there is money to be made. Thank you again.

If you are in tight budget, it is better you invest your time to do seo. Find your most targeted keywords and do some on site and off site optimization around that keywords. Tips: try to find long tail keywords (more that 3 or 4 words)

Well, I see you have tried many different ways to bring in traffic but still fail.

Are you doing the keyword research right? Are you publishing article based on keywords with good search volume? Since you are publishing mainly reviews on products, so I assume you have a buyer website (not an informational website), so for the keywords you are using in the articles, do they have good buyer intent? Do your articles rank in the first page of Google?

If your answer is no to all these, you will have a difficult time in making sales from your website.

Most of the buyers who buy online are search engine traffic, so try getting some good search traffic and then go for some paid Facebook ads. You can try Google adwords too thereafter but that would be expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I greatly appreciate it. In regards to the questions, the answer is no. My articles do not rank anywhere near the top of Google, Bing, or Yahoo. At this point I may have to consider abandoning that site, and start over with a niche with far less competition. However, I have found most of the topics or interests I search, are over saturated. I will have to "think outside the box" to find a niche with very little competition.

In addition to YouTube, have your videos distributed to other video sharing sites such as DailyMotion, Vimeo, etc. Go to Fiverr - dot- com and you will find lots of video distribution gigs there. This is one of my favorite methods to drive traffic.

You can also hire a good virtual assistant on Fiverr (and other outsourcing sites as well) to
find blog owners, Facebook page owners, etc. who are in niches with the same demographic group as your offer or niche (not the same niche since they would be leery of having a competing blog in the same niche drawing potential customers away).

Have your V.A. contact them for you, with a pre-written message you create.... asking for mutual link trades from their blog to yours, etc.

As a conversionist I'll tell you upfront that your website sucks. I doesn't convey any meaning as it looks like a news aggregator and nothing more. Look for people who are successful at what they do even if that's in other niches and "learn" from them and build a more business-like website if you want to do business.
When I see your website I want to know this:
    - What's the USP or at least UVP (unique value proposition)?
    - Is the content relevant to the traffic sources?
    - Is your message clear? Are the calls to action clear, highlighted and functional?
    - Are you distracting your own visitors for calling your offers?
To build a successful business you need visitor quantity and quality BUT you need to put quality BEFORE quantity.

You don't need more traffic. I've had sites that get 100 visitors a day earn thousands per week...

You're problem is conversions.. You have people coming to your site. The other part of the equation for success is conversions...

    Traffic + conversions = SALES..

100 visitors per day of TARGETED traffic heading right to a pre-sell review post is PLENTY to earn thousands per month. I've done it myself in multiple niches and so can you.

Start finding high converting offers, pre-sell those products in your review, offer a bonus for using your link, get the post ranked on page 1, build your email list..

Rinse and repeat.. Earn 6 figures.

    Hope that helps,
    AK

PS - if that's the website in your sig. you should try asking yourself are my reviews helpful? Does it answer all the questions YOU would have about the product if you were searching around for reviews?

Thank you Anoosh. I greatly appreciate your helpful advice, and suggestions. Yes, building an e mail list is critical. I also agree my reviews should be better written in such a way that it helps a viewer consider that product as a solution to their issue or problem.

    Hi F,

Congrats on those numbers. I also hope your knee is doing OK today.

    Create.

    Connect.

My blogging recipe: keep on creating helpful, problem solving, dream-inspiring content 1 to 3 times weekly on your blog. Connect with leaders in your niche. Comment on their blogs, promote them and build bonds. Content draws in readers, and your blogging buddies will boost your traffic by promoting you, as you promoted them.

I have lived in fab places like Fiji and Bali and Thailand for months at a time, through blogging, so this is a pretty neat and effective way to boost blog traffic.

Also, consider publishing eBooks on Amazon. Being an author can gain you more credibility, which will inspire return visitors/subscribers, which also boosts your traffic numbers.

Also, consider publishing eBooks on Amazon. Being an author can gain you more credibility, which will inspire return visitors/subscribers, which also boosts your traffic numbers.

Thank you, Ryan, for taking the time to respond. I greatly appreciate it. That is great you have lived in Fiji, Bali, and Thailand. Never been to any of those places. However, I have visited Australia numerous times. I agree, I need to continue to write on other people's blogs. I have written two e books, which are actually short stories on working in the airline industry. This is not connected to my prepareguard site. I have another website which is geared towards assisting prospective airline flight attendants in their pursuit of an airline flight attendant career. At this point, I may have to consider abandoning the prepareguard site and start over with a niche with far less competition. My site is simply too general and not aimed at a specific niche or audience. I keep reading and viewing You Tube videos which discuss it is vital to find a niche with very little competition. It is unfortunate the Google Adwords is no longer a free site. Thank you again for writing.

The purpose of this site is, to provide information and reviews on products, and services to allow people to enjoy life. Reviews on on products such as internet security, airport parking, luggage, wireless home security, and more. However, I wonder if my "niche" is way too general, and not specific enough.
I took a quick look at your site, if it's the one in your sig.

Just scanning the home page, you are all over the place, from sex pills to building confidence to reviewing what seems like a parking garage. Looking at the drop down under products and services, and it's even more scattered.

Design problems aside, you are squandering one of your biggest assets. You're an insider. You walked the aisles for years. Use that.

Scan the various travel blogs and you'll see that there are large numbers of people who think flying these days is a huge PITA. It used to be fun, an adventure. Now it's something to be endured getting from Point A to Point B, preferably as cheaply as possible.

Be the one that shines a light on how to make the experience better. Partly through recommending products and partly by providing solutions to common inconveniences and discomforts. Use what you learned to make the travel experience better.

You don't have to ditch the security angle completely. Just pull it back and focus it on airline travel. That's where you have something unique to offer.

Thank you John. I greatly appreciate your thoughtful and detailed reply. Yes, I agree with you 100% in regards to focusing on airline travel. It is true airline travel has become difficult, expensive, with ongoing fees. As an airline flight attendant, along with safety, one of my jobs was to help make the flying experience at least somewhat tolerable. Not always easy, but I tried to maintain a very positive attitude no matter what took place. After working over 13,000 flights it was a great career. You are right, I should utilize that experience to focus on helping people prepare and deal with the challenges of air travel.

You needs to buy traffic. You can buy traffics from CPC and PPC sites. Or doing advertisements you can get traffics.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I greatly appreciate it. Buying traffic is something I had considered. But at this point, not sure that is the answer.

Yes, Eckgladiator, I agree. Buying traffic will definitely help. However, I will be starting a new site, new niche, take time to research before I launch the new site, and use all the advice everyone has provided to me, to create a much better, and profitable site.

First i hope your knee will get better soon , and about making money with your site i suggest you make a research first and choose a niche that already have a market and some kind of competition and advertising on it because that's how it works.

When you find that niche get educated about it then start your blog , after your first 25 posts start promoting related products and i bet you will make sales even in the tiniest niches but it should at least have some kind of interest to the public.

When you start making sales i suggest you add an optin page with autoresponder to collect your potential buyers and start measuring your success and tweaking your blog posts and attract even more targeted prospects.

after you do all these steps and you have a decent system in place that's working on automatic for you then you can start advertising your blog with paid traffic.

that was my (2¢) for you and i hope it will help , in fact i am sure if you implement the steps i mentioned to you , you will make not only sales but a system that will work for you years to come .

Thank you Bassem, for your thoughtful and detailed response. I greatly appreciate it. Finding the right "niche" continues to be my biggest challenge. However, as John pointed out, I should focus on my airline career back round and use that expertise to write a blog. I do have another site which is geared toward prospective airline flight attendant career candidates. I am getting some clients through that site. But the prepare guard site is simply too general, not inspiring, and not well planned out. So, I will be starting over with a new site, but taking everyone's advice here, and take my time.

Firstly, need to appreciate all the work you have done till now. You have done the right things like making videos and writing a book and many more. You also need to boost up your internet existence by submitting some very relevant articles and guest posts in websites like Huffington post, reddit, digg, shoutmeloud, mashable and many more. Please let me know if this was useful to you in any manner....

    Thanks

      Bro you need more traffic.

You would be wasting time playing around with designs, especially if you are not good at it. Higher a designer and focus in driving more traffic

Thank you Zodiax for your response. I greatly appreciate it. At this point, I will be starting over with a new site, new niche. and take time to plan before launching the next site. It is clear I "jumped the gun" with prepare guard.

I'm not seo but happen to be doing it for 3 sites (my limit that have the exact issue. These are the free methods that are really working; Breaking things down to short, medium and long term.

    - short term (traffic today); Social media and social sites are great but you need join a long list of them to get good response. If you know any coding, design or apps you can get serious hits by creating flashy posts but it's a lot of daily work. If you're not into daily work, run some classifieds in free sites. Some allow links and other don't, but you don't have to nurse it daily like social media.

    - medium(traffic in a few days or weeks); podcasts and similar are great. Quickest ranking is videos, which I've had ranked in days, also lower competition blogs etc. But these are nice because they are all short, medium and long term traffic methods. I mean you make a video it'll bring some traffic and never spend time on it again.

-long term: ranking against big guys can take months or years, but you have to start now. I would read everything about seo as each site works differently, especially if you have a multi-keyword site, where a mistake can really cause damage.

Thank you Albedini. I greatly appreciate your detailed, helpful and thoughtful reply. Yes, I have tried social media, but have not spent time on it each day. I will try to run some ads on free sites. I have created some videos on YouTube, but mostly for my flight attendant site. I will have to create new videos to promote the prepare guard site. But yes, long term is my goal. However, after reading everyone's advice here, I can see it can take months or years to be ranked high on seo.
