The animated-videos better than the text-only sales pages? People prefer to read or to watch?

    Animation trumps text, most assuredly.

The situation is more complex, though. Think of it a bit like a movie poster, in terms of the design of it. One type of design will not suit every movie. The latest Pixar release will be bright and colourful and fun; whereas the latest action flick staring The Rock might be just the opposite.

When it comes to your sales page, treat it like a movie poster. Let the style of video be determined by your product or service. In general, a mixture of live-action and animation works best for me, and I've spent around 10 years playing around to get things just right. But think beyond the basic. If you go live-action plus video, remember the movie poster analogy: product determines design.

People are generally LAZY. People prefer to watch a video with a popcorn and drinks than to read the whole length of the page. People want things all prepared for them. That's why people rather go to expensive but highly entertaining seminars even though the whole content of the seminar can be found in a single $5 book!

Anyone else remember the old "point-counterpoint" segments on 60 Minutes?

      Here's the counterpoint.

People might be lazy, but they are also busy. In a hurry, Impatient.

Some people will skim a sales letter while facing a video-only presentation causes a reflexive move to the back button.

If video converts at 10% while the text converts at 4%, why throw away the 4%?

Offer both. If the combined conversions are more than the single version of either, keep it. If not, move on knowing your decision is based on data, not the opinions of random forum posters (even me).

If it is well written and you sell during the video well it is definitly worth it! You have to make sure that it converts well like everything. Almost every topseller on clickbank in any niche has a sales video so it really does convert well in executed properly!

I'm starting to create and test animated article headers like this and they are showing promise. Seem to grab the attention of the reader and keep them on the page longer. Needs more split testing though.

It CAN convert better due to higher engagement BUT....

Your bounce rate can be quite high because not everyone would want to stick around to watch the video.

    There's a trade-off here.
