Ebook and website done, but no sales yet any ideas?

Hi there,

I have just created my first product, an ebook in ClickBank and completed my website. there is not much interest from affiliates yet. Well, actually 0! So, how do I actually sell this ebook? It is about pet care and I don't see any other topic covering what I am offering -at least not in ClickBank-. I also see some other pat care products selling pretty allright.

How can I market my ebook? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
AM

You need to drive a lot of traffic to your site. Once it starts selling well, affiliates will start to notice it in clickbank.

The vast majority of affiliates don't want to promote something that is not already selling well. Unless they have promoted other products of yours prior.

      Thanks for your reply Rob
So I have to generate the traffic and sell myself initially, without affiliates... and prove that with those ClickBank stats to affiliates right?

I guess I can work on generating traffic, but do I do anything else to sell the ebook? I mean register other affiliate websites or so? Not that I know any other than CB....

Sorry about my complete stranger questions, I guess I gotta start from somewhere...

      Thank you

Yes you want to start generating sales on your own first. Then build an affiliate page on the site and promote that too after you have some sales.

You will want to have email swipes, banners, articles etc that affiliates can use.

    1. Give a generous commission over 50%.
    2. Make some sales yourself first to increase the gravity (most affiliates including me prefer to promote something that's proven to convert)
    3. Build a list.
    4. Help us give advice for your squeeze page (either post it here or send it to me via PM).
    5. Create a sales copy that sells.
    6. Add upsells/downsells.

    Good luck!

Find some successful (and complimentary to your product) blogs on pet care. Contact the owners and offer them a copy of your product and an invitation to promote it.

I think right now this is your best bet ! If it is a quality product people will take notice and want to offer it to their Prospects.

It is just as easy as Googling the Pet Sites and contacting these people

And don't forget to create a video to promote your product or website on YouTube with related keyword to be hopefully taken by Google.

Did you research the products' potential before you created it? If so, then you will know where the people who want it can be found. If not, then...

    ebru,

When you say "ebook and website done, but no sales yet any ideas?" . . . what did you expect?

It's nice that you have created a product, completed your web site, and now have a sales system in place with Clickbank.

But you shouldn't expect to be selling anything until you actually do some marketing and promotion.

You might get lucky and sell a few copies of your book in spite of not promoting it . . . but being an Internet marketer means you have chosen to make money by actually putting offers out there, driving traffic to those offers, and making a sale as a result.

How you market online is what this forum is all about. Spend some time here, use the search function to read threads on specific topics of interest. But don't expect to make any degree of significant sales without actually promoting your offers.

Congratulations on creating your ebook. But I'm afraid you've made the classic newbie mistake. Write a book or create a product and then try to figure out how you'll sell it. Most save this as the last step, when it should have been the first.

Now you'll have to got back to first grade and figure out things like ...
      • Who your target market is. Hopefully you don't say everyone, because that's another newbie mistake.
      • How you'll approach your target market. You do know who and where they are don't you?
      • How to communicate your uniqueness to your target market. (How are you different or better than their other options).
You're already getting advice on what to do, but you'll get more bang for your buck and effors if you know the "Who" and "How" regarding the three points above.

Honestly, all of those things should have gone into making the eBook and the website so it's aimed at the perfect niche. I don't see any other way to effectively sell information in this day and age unless you're highly targeted with solutions to specific pain points.

You MUST definitely go social with this... join Facebook Groups, Google Plus Communities, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and start promoting your profiles; which must be available as well on your website. Make daily posts on these communities and social profiles; post your website's url on them every day and design a great cover for your ebook. You can contact a designer on places like Fiverr.com or Odesk (now Upwork.com) and they can do this for you for $5-$10. Give away usefull Digital Products, get your hands on some PLR Products and give them away as gifts, so people can download them when buying your ebook. There is plenty of work to be done to make your first sale.

          Best of Luck!

I also encourage you to not just think in terms of "selling a book" but perhaps think of yourself as a Pet Care personality (on your way to guru). Do you truly care about this subject? Or was it just an idea? If it is something that deeply interests you, then get involved in online (i.e. Facebook but not only there) Pet communities NOT to spam or tell people in every other word about your book BUT to just be involved and help out. But if you have a well filled out profile with a way to link to your site, then some people may find their way there.

Go on youtube and make a video about your ebook, get social. Find pages on facebook that have pets on them, and link to your fb page in the comments.(the one you make about your ebook). Offer a copy of the ebook as a prize in a contest. Join pet forums and be social, and link to your book in your profile and signature. I guess all of these things will take a lot of time, but you can set aside so many minutes a day to work on your social promotions.

Maybe there's a reason you don't see anyone else covering this topic. If you'd done your homework, you would know if that's because you found a hole in the market (good) or no buys information on the topic, at least at typical inflated Clickbank prices (bad).

Look on Amazon, both physical books and ebooks. Not just "are there books for sale." You could be looking at producers in the same boat as you. Check the sales ranks and compare them with other related books.

As far as affiliates go, the affiliates you really want will be far more influenced by the EPC (earnings per click sent to you) than the commission percentage. Get the EPC up over $1.00 and you'll have to beat potential affiliates away with a stick.

Of course, to do that, you'll need to do some marketing on your own. There are two things to work on - traffic and conversions. It's kind of a Catch 22, though. It's hard to prove conversions with no traffic, while driving more traffic to an offer that doesn't convert won't help. 10 x 0 is still 0. So go back and forth. Start with driving some traffic. Work on optimizing conversions. Start driving more traffic. And so on...

Getting a positive response from all the potential affiliates listed above will so much easier when you can say "I got a $1.08 EPC from emailing a list and $1.64 from FB ads with retargeting...etc."

    Hi AM,

I love blogging to promote my eBooks.

Blogs build trust, and also, blogs boost your credibility. Make buddies. Write posts breaking down each chapter of your eBook, 1 blog post at a time. Or just promote the book with some solid teasers on your blog.

I am biased, but man do I love blogging

    All the best!

You're going to have to get sales yourself first. Affiliates aren't going to jump on board until you can demonstrate that the product sells.

You have a good product, the problem is nobody knows but you so you must introduce your product to the world. Shout your product to the world by way of blogs, forums, giveaways, and any other mediums with the word "marketing" on it. Marketing is the king... as already mentioned in here, your product needs reputation through sales or reviews before your army of affiliates marches in. All the best!

A great way to get news about your ebook out there and to get some links to your site is to do a press release. Google press releases and you will find loads of places at very reasonable prices. These are press releases for the average Joe... not for celebs. It's a great way to get things moving.

Also, if you want someone to show you from A-Z how to market your product, you should join Kim Roach's Marketing Lab. You won't go wrong there. It's www.buzzblogger.com and she is a member here. She is amazing. I join periodically to keep up with everything and $39 a month is a steal.

    Hi all,

I am stunned! I knew there was something else I supposed to do.. But I had no idea I was far far away from selling my ebook! Well, Thank you all for generous advice. I will start right away!

Here is my plan. I will start with social media, links, approaching to similar sites/companies, blogs etc... But then I might get one of those internet marketing freelancers on board if can't really get much results. I see them working for $250 per month. Does it really worth investing/relying on them?
