Building authority blog w/o WP

Hello, I am thinking for some time now to build an authority blog with info and news in a certain field. I have bought domain name, installed wordpress and tried to install and use 1 theme. After I installed it, my website havent looked anything like it looked on themes DEMO. After trying all kinds of headers, sidebars, widgets, whatever...I still couldnt get my website to look anything like that, its far too complicated.

So then I said what if I build a blog in HTML like a normal website? Would that be any bad for a blog or something? Because wordpress is overcomplicated, I dont see reason people use it

    You don't have to use WordPress as a blog. There are plenty of alternatives, but an HTML website can suffice as long as you understand it can never, ever, operate the same way that a blog does. An HTML website works from individual pages that are uploaded individually, and making a needed change entails making that change across hundreds or even thousands of individual pages (depending on the size of your site).

    If you think Wordpress is complicated, trying to develop a web site or blog from the ground up with HTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP/MySQL will be many times more difficult.

    Your experience with the one WP theme is not typical of my experience. I would suggest you try a couple of more themes. I've rarely ended up using the first theme I tried. Themes come in a wide variety of qualities. The ones that are free are the least flexible which might be best suited to you, since you have apparently had trouble with working with flexible settings. The less flexible the theme, the better the chance that your site will look like the demo.

    Html seems good for static site. Those site that do not change much. You want a blog. It is just a matter of choosing the right wordpress themes. There are a lot of premium wordpress providers in the market. it is just a matter of finding the good ones.
