I'd like to use PHPList (available via Fantastico) but I find it very hard to set up. All I need is an email capture form but this stupid software doesn't seem to want to do this. If anyone here can install and do this for me, please send me a PM. I'll pay of course! |

Be glad to help out. From my experience, it isn't so cumbersome an install to actually charge for it. Check my warrior for hire page (in sig).

I have setup phplist on my server and it work ok. Have not been able to get it to work with godaddy servers using the cron (autorun) function. If you are looking to just get subscribers to your email list and to be able to send blast back quickly, phplist will work well. You can also look into another free mailer called infinite responder for the same functionality. The big issue that you'll find is the amount of emails that your hosting service will allow you to send each day. I'm using godaddy for one site, which limits me to just 250 per day per email address that I own. So if you have a small list, its ok, if not try another with bigger limits. one last thing, you may want to set up a sequential autoresponder where once a person signs up for your mailing list, a series of emails is sent within a prescribed number of days. For instance: April 1 sign up April 5, email 1 april 10, email 2 april 17, email 3 I have not yet been able to find a free mailer with that sequential function or a mod file for IR or phplist that will enable this. If anyone has an idea or solution, please post it here. |
