Selling home maintenance services online

How would you sell home maintenance services online?

An independent contractor wants to create an online store for home maintenance services (gutter repair, window replacement, lawn care, etc...), letting people choose, pay for, and schedule their own services online.

I think services like that require at least a phone consultation. I'd do some seo, content marketing, and social media marketing to drive traffic to a lead capture page. Then contact potential clients by phone.

But, is it possible to sell maintenance services online ala carte?

    I would suggest that your client determine fixed amounts that he would charge for the various services. You can then create a landing page whereby you can direct traffic to. Also, I would recommend he offer some type of satisfaction guaranty to put people at more ease. Testimonials too!

      In my opinion, this approach is all wrong - at least not efficient.

      There are already places where people go to find contractors.
      Many are free to this client and others are worth the entry listing fee as they advertise on TV in their market areas!

      I think your client should be consulted and guided through leveraging these platforms to fit into their marketing plan UNLESS this new website project is going to provide some novel and beneficial functionality to the buying public.

      There are many other "methods" that your client is not using and it would be foolish to do this website without having the other things done, either before or congruently.

      I recommend that you do a little more homework (even just here on the WF) and search out those methods to provide your client with a better chance at achieving their geo-based goals.

        Someone suggested posting as on Craig's list, but I haven't tried it.

        It does seem that at least using ads would work better than driving traffic to a website.

          But placing ads was always about driving traffic to a website or to the doors of a brick and mortar store. No different. It seems that the digital medium has detached the reality of what advertising is for many.

            It might sound counterintuitive, but one way to promote services like these is to show people exactly how to do them themselves. Some people will take the instruction and run with it. Others will realize that it's worth it to pay someone to do it for them.

            For example, I have some odd slopes on my lot. I could buy a riding mower and learn to do the yard without tipping the mower over onto myself, maintain the mower, etc.

            Or, I could hire someone who already has the equipment and expertise to do my yard, while I spend my energies in more attractive pursuits.

    There are a lot of ways to sell different services online. One way that you can sell your home maintenance service is to post it using social media, like facebook and twitter.

    You can create a page about your service or hire someone to do it for you. Then gather likes, post some useful and helpful post in your page.

    You can also create a site or a blog where you can tell information about your services and business.
    You can hire an expert to do that for you, if you don't have a budget then you can learn it yourself via youtube or google.
