The best way is throw those terms - and any others - into search. Think of WF a bit like a book on internet marketing; the pages are just out of order. What I'd suggest is just reading for enjoyment at this stage, but also noting any areas that interest you. You can then make more pointed searches - on those areas - and get a deeper knowledge. If you have specific questions, though, you should fire away.

At this stage i recommend you to use and abuse from the search button filter your topics accordingly. I remember when I had started my first 6 months i used a lot from the search bar. You will be flooded with a lot of information, probably too much information, but with time you learn how to filter the golden nuggets from the junk... And boy there is a lot of junk in WF.

Building a list and affiliate marketing is a little complex. For that you need to research and study about it in order to master it properly and start making profits out of it

Active forum participants have their own businesses to run. They don't have time to write lengthy posts in order to simply hand you all the basic knowledge of Internet marketing.

Learning the basics is the responsibility of the student. Spend some time in this forum watching, reading, observing, and gaining your own knowledge. Use the search function to learn about topics that you don't understand. Ask questions as appropriate but be respectful of peoples' time.

Personally, if I were new to IM, I would keep a notebook handy and jot down various business models and case studies of successful businesses that seemed interesting to me and that I could enjoy doing on a full time basis.

I would also do an inventory of my personal skills, talents, knowledge, training, education, passions . . . anything really, that would give me a head start or a leg up on the average business owner. By being an "authority" or expert in your niche, you will be looked to for advice, recommendations, and suggestions on what to purchase and how to do things.

I would also begin researching markets where I had an advantage to see what the participants were desiring, what problems and frustrations they had, what solutions they were seeking. By understanding demand for products and services, you will be in a position to know what to suggest and what you might offer in the way of products/services for sale.

You will be tempted, but don't spend money just yet - you will need it later.

Right now, go through the student and apprentice period that all professions require prior to being ready to hang your shingle. It needed be a long time but you should build upon a solid foundation that you don't have just yet.

The most basic definition of an affiliate marketer is that you will be selling and/or driving traffic and leads to *another* persons product (that you have permission to do this for). For this work of yours, you will receive a commission (percentage) of the sale(s). The reason product creators use affiliate marketers is because marketers are the experts at--marketing. So the product creator doesn't have to put as much effort into the marketing and can concentrate on what they do best, which is their product or service. As an affiliate marketer, it means you are willing to put your time, thought, effort, and money towards getting traffic (and sales). To be that expert on traffic generating.

So with this in mind, if you choose to work in affiliate marketing you will need to make at least three decisions (and research about how). One, what products are you going to promote. And Two, how are you going to drive traffic (promote) to that product, and, three, convert that traffic into a sale. So that is a basic structure. There are LOTS OF WAYS to make this basic structure unique, so there is more than one model out there.

Creating an email list is ONE model for affiliate marketing (or ANY business practice not even affiliate marketing), and some think it is the best model, including myself. I think it is the way to go. (But depends a lot on your personality, preference, what you want to do or are willing to do.)

If you can build an email list that is YOUR people, YOUR community, who LIKE getting your emails, then you can have a long-term, warm audience for making affiliate offers. You can market to them for the rest of your life and theirs. It's long term income. Of course, there are ways to do this so it is pleasant and ethical and not spam. I can't give a full idea about building an email list but you do need at least:

A place for them to sign up for your email list (called an opt-in)
A reason for them to sign up (Hey, sign up! does not cut it ) [research Lead Magnets]
A place to keep your email database
A place to be able to send out emails to that database, included automated emails
A plan for the value you will give your email community (content; both free and offers ($))--how you will engage and communicate with them

And then of course your selected (affiliate) products that you would offer (over time).

Also it is best to have a NICHE email list--this helps for the reason why people would be there. For example, a list all about makeup will let you market makeup. So the list should be *about something*.

There's more to it, of course. But there's a basic structure that can help in your research.
