I get the idea of limiting sales for a scarcity purpose, but then do you have a backend built up for this purpose?

| In the first half of the year we are supposed to work for the taxman. I think that's a mistake. Help me to get rid of the taxman ASAP - thanks! (You, too, should make less mistakes!) | |

I use 1shoppingcart.com and they have a setting that enables you to do that automatically. You set a number for your "inventory." It's really useful for when you have only one copy of something or when you need to limit enrollment in a seminar. Marcia Yudkin |

| Quote: I actually Googled for the answer and haven't come up with anything yet. I also checked out my copy of DLGuard to see if it had that feature, but it does not seem to. Not sure about Paypal delivery or other delivery services that I haven't used for delivering digital goods ... so maybe someone here has a method other than just monitoring your sales and cutting it off when the number is hit. | |

I think this may be what you're looking for (in the case of e-junkie): E-junkie - Inventory Management |

Check out a product by John Delavera called 'Special Offer Manager' that does exactly that. Special Offer Manager |

| Simple Member Pro can do this. When setting up your product you just enter in the maximum number you want sold and once that number is reached the sales page is disabled automatically. It has a "sold out" page which is 100% customizable and will automatically display instead of the sales page once the maximum number of sales is reached. (Before anyone complains.. I no longer own Simple Member Pro. I sold it to David Allen and he now has 100% control. I am no longer associated with SMP in any way other than offering him support for a short period until he gets caught up with things.) |

To be fair, there are times when selling a limited quantity makes sense. Believe it or not, some marketers really DO limit how many copies they sell. If they say only 20 copies will be sold, they only sell 20. As Marcia mentioed above, having limited enrollment in a seminar is another reason. Of course there are marketers who only use that number as a ploy for artificial scarcity. However, my guess is that Warriors are more apt to shun this practice. All of that being said, I agree that it's better to sell more when possible. Only limit quantities if you have a good (and well thought out) reason for doing so. By the way, thanks for the eJunkie link, MizzCindy. All the best, Michael |
