get an expiring domain name

I let a domain expire and now it's been long enough that I need to just get it back when it becomes available again. What is the best way to know when it becomes available?

Thanks Ron

Can you not verify it on Whois? Can you not go back to where you've first purchased the domain and ask them what has become of your domain? They might still have your domain or other person may have already bought it when it expired.

Right - like he's going to post it here...

      Ron -

There is a grace period and then a redemption period as far as I know. I always thought the domain would not be available for 60 days but the quote from godaddy seems to indicate it doesn't take that long now.

Note: A registrant can renew an expired domain name at no extra cost up to day 18. If they renew an expired domain name anytime between day 19 and day 42, they must also pay an $80.00 redemption fee. The domain name might not be available for renewal after day 42.
Rather than check a registrar and risk having it short-registered by third party software...use a site similar to gameboy where you can enter the keywords and look without identifying WHAT you are looking for.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Take a look at the whois: http://www.whois.com/whois
There you can see, when the domain name expires.

I definitely think your best bet would be to contact GoDaddy and see what they say about purchasing your old domain.

You can set alerts on GoDaddy which will tell you. Also there are services that can snap the name for you before it's released, for a extra fee.
