Hey Everyone, I was wondering what the best screen capture software is with audio capability. I would rather get free ones, but I am open to others that are not free. Also, what's the best way to record a video of a power point presentation? Would the screen capture software be the best way to record a power point presentation? Thanks! Buddy7 |

Checkout CamStudio . Not to be confused with the ubiquitous (and very nice) $300'ish Camtasia Studio. Screen capture programs like the two above will do a fine job of recording PowerPoint presentations. Camtasia has built in support for it, but just have your presentation sized for the screen area you're capturing and CamStudio will do fine. |

Jing is great if you only want videos up to 5 minutes long. You could always take several 5 minute shots, save them as avi, wmv or whatever other format you like and then string all those videos together.

Camtasia is really good. I think you can try a free version for 30 days first. |

Camstudio is the best of the free... I actually prefer it most of the time over Camtasia which I also own. Check out this thread which includes some video tutorials you will find helpful: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...camstudio.html |

I use Camtasia Studio 6.0. It has never let me down. Works directly with Power Point too!

Not exactly what you want but I thought it worth mentioning - Windows 7 includes a "Snipping Tool" that let's you drag the cursor to outline a portion of the screen to capture. It's a nifty little tool |

Most benefits previous versions provided were improvements on embedded flash video player generated by camstudio. Though I love camstudio as a screen capture product it should never be used for encoding and embedding video in a webpage. You should always save a high quality master output as an avi and then encode it to flash video formats using codecs such as vp6 for flv and h.264 for mp4 using industry leading encoding applications. This will give you a smaller file size and higher quality final result. You should then embed it in your website using professional quality video players. The reason camstudio should not be used to encode and embed is because out of necessity of the free open source identity it only contains limited older open source codecs and encoding processes for flash. These do not provide as high a compression and image quality as vp6 and h.264. Additionally the players provided with any version of camstudio really only offer the most basic flash 7 swf functionality. Great if you have no other options... but definately won't provide the best eperience as compared to using professional encoding and player solutions after capturing and rendering an AVI from Camstudio instead. And again anyone who is trying to figure this subject out should really read this following thread and watch the video tutorials posted by myself and others in various posts of the thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...camstudio.html | |

Having used both Camtasia and CamStudio, it's definitely Camtasia for me. Why? Because it's easier to compile, edit and produce. It comes with a lot of bells and whistles that may sometime confuse a new user. Most of the time, you probably won't use them. Nevertheless, once you use it, you will quickly discover why it may be the best long term solution for your video marketing needs. Jag |

Check out SnagIt. I use that to capture the shots and then I use Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks for editing.

SangIt and Camtasia Studio don't do the same thing. I use them both. They compliment each other nicely. |

I vote for CamStudio. There are a number of good products you can use - but this one has worked for me. |
