Every one may know about this but I've just seen it

Google has now got a project where you can set up Groups on basically anything you want

You can set up webpages within your group

Myspace and Facebook here comes the google crush?????

Hi Michael,

Yes Google groups is a really nice resource. Originally it used ot be DejaVu, was then rebranded as Deja dot com and was then bought by Google and incorporated into what is now known as Google groups.

Some of the threads there go waaaaaay back in time (even predating Google itself I believe)...

Google groups originally was Usenet or Netnews - I was using them back in 1988 or so. Back then, you had to proactively post about your intention to create a new groups, justify why it was worthy, and then generate a CFV (call for votes) to get people to agree it should be allowed. Ah, those were the days....

Steve Bellovin is mentioned in that article - utterly brilliant man. I was able to learn from him back in my Bell Labs days - it's incredible the knowledge that was shared.
