Default Keyword Question

If my keywords is "train puppy how to train" or something to that nature and I put it into my title like this

Train Puppy: How To Train Your Puppy

and my article like this

....train puppy. How to train your puppy

They would both count as being the exact keyword right?

Are you targeting that WHOLE phrase as one keyword? I wouldn't imagine that it would get much traffic, if any.

I'd split it into two. Train puppy AND how to train your puppy. You can still use them in your title as you have shown above.

Then vary them slightly and build backlinks. Focus more on your main keyword though which I would say would be 'train puppy' or 'puppy training' or even 'how to train your puppy'.

Hi Scott,

Yes I think you would be right - the colons and the full stops don't seem to make any difference when I am doing Google searches - I think it is as long as the words follow the same order they would be considered a keyword phrase.

It's just an example, not the actual keyword I'm using.

Hi Scott,

Google doesn't 'read' commas and full stops, therefore you can write the keyword as stated in your question. It will be good to go. Long tails are a great way to get into Google's grace and by breaking unreadable keywords up in the fashion mentioned above you can take advantage of them and get ranked.

Good luck
Monika

Also, using the : in a title tag can add extra strength to the keywords that follow it.

This is news to me. I am also in the SEO arena for a long time. Never tried before. Thanks for the info, dear.
