where do people get images to make memes and the like, and another question about image use...?

For making inspirational or funny quotes....

I know there are sites that put memes together and have their own stock of photos to choose from...but if i want to make my own for social media sharing...i am assuming that most of these type of images i see dont give credit, nor are probably purchased?

2nd question, at what point is altering an image making it different and therefore not needing recognition, in terms of copyright, or does it not ever come to that point and the original photographer should always be respected? Just i see often same/similar images but with some image effect on them, and nil comment of origin.

Any pointers on how i can get some pics that i have not to worry about upsetting or being chased by someone, for the use of memes etc, would be appreciated

    I get my images from this list some of the websites offer the images free of charge without copyright problems and such. Hope it helps.

    Edit: Seems that when I was writing you wrote faster then me Trevor.

    PS. You can write also on google keywords like: top(your number here) free royalty photos (or anything like this and you will get plenty of results of websites from peoples that used the such websites in order to beautify their blogs/websites.
