I am testing if my app idea is one that people will want. What do you think is the best method?

I have considered putting together a word press page and doing some advertising to test. That way I can pre build a list and obtain an idea about demographics.

I am also considering just moving to crowdfunding to see if anyone is interested in the idea. I feel like there is more time and outlay involved in this and it could be a flop.

Do you have any other ideas?

    Hello Good day!

The wordpress page would be a very great move to do. As we all know that wordpress has more pr than other sites.

Just make sure you put high quality contents and useful articles on the site. To attract more people and visitors on it.

    Thanks

If you are talking about a WordPress.com site then I would reconsider and put up your own WordPress site... it doesn't need to be expensive. I would also think you should do both, build your site around your niche in general perhaps, and then you have somewhere you can point interested parties for more information. Crowd-source Funding could certainly be well worth looking into, and seems to be gaining a bit of momentum lately... Unless you have money to spare I would not jump into paying for traffic to test to start with... They are my thoughts... Good luck with your venture!

It really depends on the niche. E.g. I don't quite see crowd funding working for the IM niche...

    What niche are you in?

    Cheers,

That is the point of testing using a wordpress (not .com) to see if people are interested in the idea. Rather then jump straight into crowdfunding and hoping people get on board. At least with a WP site it will be cheaper to set up and I'll just buy a little traffic to see how converts on my analytics goals.

I was just going to buy some ad time and see if people clicked but I think a landing page is required to give the people some more information about it. Plus then they can opt in and share etc.

Any other ideas how I could test this? What is a good conversion rate on goals I set out in analytics?

Without knowing more details it's impossible to say.
