Getting an app developed

I'm new here and admittedly haven't had a chance to look around at other posts much. Please forgive me if this question has already been addressed.

I work for a Support Service company (assisting disabled people)
I've been dealing with a problem for the past year or so that I think could possibly be solved by creating an app, or maybe even finding one that is already in use. (I'd prefer to make my own) I have no coding skills and minimal online skills (took a few min to even figure out how to make this post)
I have no idea of where to begin with getting this done could anyone offer any advice on where to start?

Hi BigFliz, you should go for outsourcing . Go to any freelancer websites such as freelancer.com and post your requirements. If you can PM me your idea maybe I can develop it for you.

If you can find an app development company near you, you could just drop by and talk to them. It will be easier to do follow-ups on your app's progress if the developers are nearby.

You should definitely understand how the apps works in the background, so keep reading.

    Hey, Friend
As you said that you have no skills in programming and much experience of online world. Then i recommend you to dont put efforts to learn app development because you will need at least 3 month to learn developing skills. Practically speaking, That is totally going to be wastage of time to save very less money as compare to time invested .

The best solution for this is to hire a Developer. From Freelancer.com or Elance or Upwork or may be Fiverr.com

    Thanks

I got an app developed fairly easily from Odesk (now called upwork)
It is pretty cheap and simple if you give the developer clear instruction and make the project fixed price - take a look into it.

If you have no coding skills and limited online skills then creating an app by yourself is going to be a task in a million. Your best bet would be to outsource the project to someone with the skills to do the job. Check out www.oDesk.com to put a team together.

Keep in mind that you will need to be totally clear up front with exactly what you want to avoid any pitfalls and make sure you protect your idea and that the programmer(s) signs a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before hiring.

Finally keep doing as much research as you can into app development before taking the plunge and investing your money.
