How has the Mobile Web affected you?
My experience has been that mobile users are different than desktop/laptop users, They have short attention spans, don't stick around a site very long, want short concise content, and don't click on ads or affiliate links. Although my search engine traffic has completely recovered from earlier Google's Panda and Penguin "adjustments" and my sites are "mobile friendly" to Google, revenue is half now compared to 2-4 years ago. 100% traffic -- 50% revenue.
I've made special effort to make the sites mobile friendly and responsive but the articles, most of which rank in top 3 for keywords on Google, are an average of about 1000 words long, and contain multiple AdSense ads and affiliate links. Apparently these articles are too long for most mobile users, yet the length of the articles is attractive to Google and allows room for multiple ads.
I've created a mobile version of the main site with much shorter articles, which creates the problem of not reasonably allowing multiple ads and not being ranked by Google.
My conclusion is that creating a profitable content site for mobile users is a problem for which I don't have answers. What are your experiences? What solutions, if any, have you found to be successful?
Thanks.
