Default The Domain That REFUSES To Die

One of the things I love about internet marketing is when you get unexpexted results.

I shelved a website about 2 years ago because I thought the niche in question was dead ... and to be really honest got fed up with it.

However the site in question refuses to die ... every day it is getting 2 - 300 hits and although I am selling nothing on it.

So what I decided to do was just turn every page into a page of ADSENSE blocks .. you know like those expired domain sites.

I am getting about 20 - 40 Adsense clicks a day making me about $25 every month ... which is okay by me.

I think they reason this flipping site will not go away is because the domain name contains good keywords and even though it ends in .biz and not .com bing, yahoo and good old Google still are ranking it. Another factor I consider is the age of the site ... I understand that search engines like sites that have been around for awhile.

I am seriously thinking that if I get some time I may start this site up again and see if I can turn it into a $2.5K a month earner.

What would you do?

John

2-300 unique average visits per day?

Turn that sucker into a money pit, your own products, affiliate products, and adsense.

If you're still sick of it, Ill take it off your hands

Sounds like you know what to do.
The traffic is there. Just build the site.

If you don't want to keep the site, put in a bit of work and try and increase the earning potential then flip the site.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

If you don't want to create your own product you could always just set up a redirect to a Clickbank product in that niche.

Well I think that should earn you a little more that Adsense earnings, depending on the niche and buyers etc.

Great post - motivational

A top level redirect will kill the seo traffic. Avoid that

I am going down the create a product route actually.

Just made a few tweaks to the site today in order to improve the Adsense blocks (I did not even bother to blend in previously) I am already seeing a better CTR on these.

I have also found and set up some RSS feeds ... has anyone used the Adsense RSS burner? My understanding is that it includes ads in the feed results ... could be wrong.

Okay so a new ebook is called for ... I am to get busy

Thanks for everyones feedback

John

It really depends on the niche, and the quality of traffic.

But imagine redesigning it and adding more content! It will most likely rank pretty well, and you might turn it into a crazy moneymaker =)

I have one of these "domains that refuse to die" as well.

You can thank search engines and social bookmarking. I am trying out different things to see what I can do with it. It was making cash (when I updated it), but even with it sitting idle for months, I still get the traffic.

By the way, what is the domain name?? :P - lol

Anyways I have heard about type-in Traffic, if you have a domain like that its brilliant . But i guess its a .biz and will not be a type-in domain.

I read this article on keyword domains.

You're dropping 1-300 hits per day? You must be already adapted to seeing mega hits per day on your main sites!

I'm struggling to get even 10 hits per day.
