Google's Figures Don't Make Sense

OK... So, I am researching a keyword and I find out with google keyword tool that the EXACT search for it is 18,000 locally.

I then go to the traffic estimator and enter this keyword in, again, for EXACT search.

Now google tells me if I am in position 1-3 I will get 3-4 clicks per day.

So lets say 90 clicks a month...

... This would mean by being in top 1-3 on google they are predicting I will get 0.5% of the traffic.

That doesn't seem right for me to be honest. Anyone else got an opinion on this.

None of googles figures make any sense.

You can see the same traffic numbers across all countries for loads of keywords. It's crap data at best.

I agree with thegamecat mostly... The Google traffic estimates are known to be very unreliable. Having said that, most people that use google prefer the organic results, and of the ones that use the paid searches, not all of them are going to like your ad... so 0.5% could be right.

I've been getting so much inconsistent data through Google lately...it's ridiculous and makes you wonder how the h*ll you're supposed to accurately research a niche at all!

You can run an adwords campaign and use impressions to get an accurate search count if you really really really need perfect numbers.
