How can I make a penny from this site, help

i startted chinageist.com/ in hope that it could generate a penny, it has some visitors, and them are very interested in the topics. But I have no clues are how to monetize it. Do you think it's better with ads or premium services? And I also am indecisive at what topics to focus. Chinese etymology, history, novels and stories, literature, and even more. I lost focus.

Sincerely ask for advises.

    Hi John,

I used to live between Beijing (China World Trade Center) and Hong Kong. Welcome to Warrior Forum.

You're very right in what you say here on your website: "China is a huge market, if you’re not in China or you can’t speak Chinese, it’s really inconvenient and inefficient."

The problem is this: you jumped into creating your site without appropriate planning; business, marketing, development plan.

As a Westerner, when I arrive at your site I have no clear idea what it's all about. It took some digging around before I came across your business services section, and at that stage I had a better understanding.

    This is what I suggest.

Your English is fair. It needs work, but it isn't half bad. If I were you I'd offer MMO (make money online) services to the Chinese market, by helping them break into the English-speaking world online.

    - Web Design
    - Articles
    - Moneymaking Methods
    - Etc.

You can even outsource all of that if you wish. Such a plan has a great deal of potential. You could be the man who helps industrious men and women in China to break into the huge MMO market.

Edit: Another thing you can do (and I have experience doing it myself) is exporting collectibles to North America and Europe. You'd need another site, of course.

    Food for thought!

    Cheers! - Tom

Hi Tom, do you think I should ditch the contents about Chinese language, history etc, and make the site solely serve the purpose of providing services? thanks!

        I do.

However - I'm not in love with the domain name.

When you're marketing, you always need to break even the most complex things down into things that are easy to understand.

        What I'd do:

        1. One part of the site helps the Chinese break into the English-speaking MMO market.

        2. One part helps the English-speaking demographic, Westerners, break into the MMO market in China.

What you could do is put together a virtual team who can handle the service orders. For instance: articles translated from English into Chinese; and vice versa.

The easy money here (relatively speaking) will be helping Chinese break into English-speaking MMO.

Having lived in China myself, I'm familiar with their average incomes. If you can help them tap into income that they can earn from the Western market online, in, for instance the MMO market, then you're offering a terrific service.

You might also want to help traders sell their items to Westerners online. This is another business model. I remember spending my weekends buying collectibles in Beijing (all of those lovely markets and roadside vendors). I'd be willing to bet they'd pay you a nice "ongoing" monthly figure for helping them reach the global market for their goods.

        Cheers! - Tom

    Another thought:

You can do it both ways.

Help English-speakers in the MMO market break into China, and vice versa.
