How do you protect your PayPal email?
I have an email address that has been created to be used exclusively with PayPal. Nothing else. I just like to see all the notifications about payments received and sent in one single place - without anything else. I don't want other messages in that Inbox.
As it happens quite often, many (otherwise respectable) marketers offer something, as a bonus or "bait" on the download page of the purchased product - but no option to input an email address to receive it.
Here is the exact scenario I went through yesterday: I am subscribed to the list of a marketer and he is always giving excellent content, rarely pushes sales. When he does, it's worth listening to him. So, he recommended one of his products with a topic I am very interested in. The price being reasonable I just went ahead and bought the product. Great! Downloaded the ebook, plus the 3 bonuses... and there was a link (nothing else!) to get a very promising report. Now, I know this marketer doesn't give out crap, so I really wanted to get it. I like his style, I like his approach to IM, I respect his high ethical standards.
There is only one problem: when clicking on that link, he sent an email to my paypal email asking for confirmation that I want to receive his info: the usual confirmation/double opt-in reply we get when subscribing to a list.
My dilemma: I want to get the info, I'd would even stay on his list (maybe this is a different list than the one I am on) but I hate to have anything coming to my paypal email inbox, other than PP notifications.
Is it just my OCD or others are also bothered by this practice?
(I know I could set up a redirect rule to forward the messages coming from him to another address but that's not the point...)
I'd love to hear your opinion on this.
