Hi all, I had a exclusive-affiliate deal (or drop shipping) with an merchant to launch a website on a 25% commission basis for all website sales 1 yr ago. The website development cost was funded by the merchant, and things went well. I have registered a new domain name because the merchant has registered the domain of his own brand. Things went well for 1 year and I am making a monthly profit of USD600 to 700 from the website. I had spent part time on PPC / blog content, PR / link / directory submission etc as a amateur. However, the merchant has decided to start marketing his own website (identical design since they owned the website design). They have engaged a SEO consultant and he advised that we should not keep 2 domains for a single brand. I was adviced to drop my domain, and reroute the traffic to the merchant site as a referral traffic (to calculate affiliate fee). The blog still belongs to me. This is what I need to sort out now: - Is this recommended in view of the total sales versus the confusion of customers? - Will I be losing all the SEO / keyword, linking, PR / directory / linking effort in Google if I do so? (or possible to at least bring those "favorism" to the main site?) - If I have my current domain redirect to the main site, should I keep the blog in the current domain? I would really appreciate any advices. Please and Thanks in advance! |
