Best place to send this traffic?

I've been getting a good amount of social media traffic everyday, and i'm promoting this weight loss product which is getting some sales by direct linking to it, but there should be more. I was wondering if I am making a mistake direct linking to it, and maybe I should send them to a squeeze page or something that sort of pre sells the product.

    You're right: big mistake.

    In your case:

    Socials > Squeeze > Monetized "Thank You" > Follow-Up Series

    The above model will:

    1. Improve conversions.
    2. Grow your business more securely (all those subscribers)
    3. Improve marketing and (more importantly) re-marketing.

    Edit:

    Even better way:

    Socials > Articles > Newsletter > Monetized "Thank You" > Follow-Up Series

      What do you think the squeeze page should consist of, a freebie ebook or a few good things said about the product page they will be sent to after giving their email address?

    Hard for me to say if it will work "well" with limited information, but work it will. Weight loss is a tough one. Competition, saturation. You don't necessarily need a freebie for your incentive; mostly you need a USP.

    One route that works well here:

    1. Home - Top 10 List
    2. Section for Articles.
    3. Popup Newsletter.
    4. Syndicate articles.
    5. Build targeted traffic to the top 10 list.

    Whichever route you take - avoid direct linking. You won't convert nearly as well, you lose the chance of "collecting" traffic, and social networks often take exception to the practice, as well as affiliate networks.
