Sales Mistakes We've All Made

I'm in ecommerce and, to me, sales is the most important online skill to learn.

It is also a mindset and attitude. Here are a couple important facts that prevent sales:

Nearly half of all sellers give up with a lead after just 1 follow-up, yet...
80% of sales require 5 or more points of contact.

Between 35% - 50% of sales go to the vendor who responds first (to a query)
If you follow-up with a lead within 5 mins you are 9x more likely to convert them.

The lessons are to respond to queries quickly and then follow-up rapidly. Then keep following-up with leads.

Good luck with your ventures.

Great points. People give up too early. What people should do is math. They should come up with an equation that will allow them to see exactly when they will be making the money that they desire - all by using a few variables. Variables such as:

    - Current advertising budget
    - Rate of current sales
    - Rate of current backend sales
    - Product price
    - Percentage of business income that will be used to pour back into the business

Don't give up so fast - you don't have to. It's simple, if you know math.

Sales? Of course. You have mentioned really great points. It's really important that you interact with your clients. Otherwise, you'll end up losing them to your competitors. They can be very impatient, especially when they know they have many other options.

I guess what they don't understand is sales is not a hit or miss thing. It is not about trying if you can make a sale and giving up if you don't. You have to be persistent. It is the key to really closing that deal.

That's why it's so important to build a list. When you collect that email in the beginning, you're able to keep in contact with the lead. You can build a relationship with them and present the offer to them a few more times.

Giving you the best chance to convert them into a buyer.

Optimizing what is working and getting rid of what is not!

We tend to try something and don't get results then we move on and it turns into a everyday thing.

Work harder on yourself than you do your job! It's only 20% mechanics and the rest is all mindset.

Not really anything new here. Of course you have to expose them multiple times. And give them information about yourself that will engage them and hopefully they will like you.

That's the whole idea behind having a good autoresponder series in place.
But knowing and doing can be miles apart sometimes. Following up also
takes discipline after the first "no".

You built up the enthusiasm in me with your post.

I am in the process of building my email list. I keep on sending broadcast emails and the responses are to me, really low. They haven't unsubscribed, so probably I need to continue to build my relationship with them.

    Thanks.
