Realistic earning potential on amazon kindle?

Hello all,

I have hired a team of writers and planning to pen down around 10 to 15 books in different niches related to health, finance, and technology.

We plan to price the books at around 3 to 5 dollars

How much do you think we can make on Kindle with decent quality book and little promotion on youtube and some PR activity?

Would love to hear from someone who has first hand experience with the platform...

regards

Can anyone really give you any kind of estimate without knowing what niches you're in, what problems your books solve, what kind of writing you produce, what kind of promotion you will do, and on and on?

No one can give you any kind of credible guess.

It could be $0 . . . or it could be $1,000,000 or more!

Don't waste your time dreaming of riches . . . produce high quality material that helps people, put your books out there, promote the heck out of them, test and track everything, and see what happens.

    Steve

By the way, health, finance and technology are huge markets, not niches. If you write general guidance, freely available information in your books, your earning potential will be near 0.

    $5.

but seriously, you won't get far without establishing a platform first. This means building a brand.

There are too many people who just spam the store thinking they're going to hit it big.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

To be honest , that is like asking people how much they can make starting a Used Car Lot.

Some people nothing and some a million dollars.

I know one Marketer, Steve Scott, makes well over 50K per month with Kindle Publishing.

    You can google him

    As someone else said:

That's my experience. Writing something good will help. Promoting it properly will help. These are things you can control.

The one thing you can't control is getting lucky and having a bunch of excited people tell the world that they think your books are awesome. That's an important part of the equation and the part that I've never been able to make happen.

The soundest part of your strategy is creating a number of books.

However, instead of spreading them across a variety of niches within a number of different markets, I'd advise picking a few true niches and creating a series of books for that niche (3-5 to start).

If you offer a single book in a given niche, and someone does buy it and like it, where do they go from there? You're left with trying to find out if they might be interested in one of your other niches.

Having a series of books in a particular niche (like crockpot recipes or woodworking with only hand tools, or some similar well-defined niche) allows for the possibility of someone buying one book, liking it, and buying the rest of the series.

As for the "realistic earning potential", I'll simply echo Steve B's estimate. Somewhere between $0 and $1,000,000+.

Your promotion efforts are going to determine your levels of success with these ebooks.

The more you get them out there on the net the more money you're going to make.

In fact, I'd say you need to make sure you have quality content in your books, but spend most of your time generating traffic to your Amazon listing.

You can't depend on Amazon to bring in the buyers for you when first starting out.

There are over 3.5 million books on amazon now. Most of these would be "best sellers" sadly sell less than one book per year. What they do is gather digital dust sitting on a server. Frankly, it is bad and getting worse. Still, if you find a tiny untapped niche, you can sell 20 books per day easy. That would be approx $40 if the book sells for $2.99 and you could make enough to live on. Selling 200 books per day is not so easy. First off, vultures will jump in. Then your sales will drop off a cliff as they attack you and your book with poor reviews. Please be careful about listing your book for free as that is when the vultures swoop in. Best to be ready for what is coming. Always be swimming up a river. Oh yes, searching for new areas. Expect to find few gold nuggets (untapped niches) and many miners.

You should not expect too much if you've never published a book because it needs more than a solid niche/keyword analysis, a nice looking cover etc. Success in this business also depends on the market: What's the quality that the customers expect in a specific niche? Can you reach the quality? Can you undercut the prices of your competitors? Is the price still high enough to make enough money? etc.

My personal record is $6k within the first 30 days only with one book. Sure, the sales declined with the time but I'm still making about $2k/m after 8 months with this book. But I also have many books with less sales from the time when I started with Kindle. It takes time to be able to publish $1k+/m books so you should not expect too much if you've no experience with Kindle. But the time will come.

I also also don't recommend to search for "untapped niches" because the risk is high that there's no demand by the customers (not much money to make). It's possible to be successful in every saturated niche (high customers demand [much money to make] but also a lot of cometitors [high quality level]) if you're able to provide thenecessary quality in a "wide" niche.
