US/UK/Canada/Australia Immigration?

I had this radical thought yesterday and would appreciate your thoughts on this:

You think work visas in English-speaking countries are ever on the card for IM'ers? Most of us are self-employed and have a bachelor's degree at best.

It's relatively easy for doctors, engineers or developers to get H1B visas. Their CV looks so much better on paper.

I mean like, if a tech start-up wanted to hire a content writer, SEO/affiliate manager etc. from a foreign country, you think that the Government would provide them a Visa?
Thoughts?

You could do that online from anywhere.

Brent, read between the lines. He wants to emigrate, and he needs a green card to stay.

Yes it could be done, but SEO/content writing is pretty low value and you're unlikely to get sponsorship for that. Move up the value chain into stuff like CRM implementations or specialist engineering.

The other thing with sponsorship is that sponsors will hire you because you're cheap. Which isn't great when you want to move to somewhere expensive like London.

You need to raise your value. Being a seasonal IM or online entrepreneur is not enough to get sponsorship from a company. Most company requires top caliber computer programmers or developers where very few locals can do the job or is not feasible to outsource online. The likes of doctors and engineers cannot be outsourced online so hiring them and giving them visas is the best bet.
