It looks like the publisher backlash is having an effect: Adblock launches Acceptable Ads program

Adblock is now allowing acceptable ads to appear as long as they meet certain criteria.

It looks like all the negative publicity has pushed them to soften their stand on ads.

Still, publishers should focus on alternative revenue streams.

It's only a matter of time until traditional ads are blocked automatically across the board.

Plus, given consumers' 'ad blindness' web reading patterns, expect ad revenues to dwindle.

Well we all know that Google strategically and systematically dominates and eliminates as much of its competition as possible. Did you know that Google makes $100 million dollars a day from ad words alone. So it may not be a surprise that this is happening. And of course ad block is going to profit from this.
So, Yeah its all about money.

Here is just a small snip it from the local press here in Oz
    "
Just one new app is featured in iOS 9, but it could well be the most significant app from Apple in years.
News, coming to Australia in iOS 9.1, is Apple's latest attempt to give media publishers a modern platform for newspapers and magazines.
Apple is hoping to move the consumption of news out of a browser and into an app. Technology pundits are arguing whether the company's motivations are entirely noble; is this just another front in the war against Google? Wrapping newspapers into an app platform removes them from Google's Adsense."

Is it just me, or are these companies wide open to an extortion lawsuit?
