Making Money Using Blogger (Newbie Question)

by Vetes

I'm a blogging newbie and I don't have any money to use to blog right now, so using a WordPress theme and obtaining a host isn't for me right now. I've been using Blogger and was thinking of monetizing it right now and at least learning more about making money and then purchasing a host later. My question is this: Can I make any money using Blogger?

You can, though the problem comes when you want to grow beyond blogger as moving to a standalone platform isn't so simple.

You can get shared hosting through someone like Hostgator or Bluehost for a few dollars a month. If you need to make the money to buy the hosting, you could offer a service on fiverr.

Yes, you can earn money by the blogger. There is no problem. But if you want to earn money by Adsense, you may need to write enough content. Because you are using the free version so, you need to write original & accurate content only. Carry on. Thanks a lot.

Yes, as logn as you have some trffic...use social media
And once you have made some money, pay hosting with your own domain and use wordpress

Or as the member above suggested, use fiverr. Although not so easy, you have to promote your gigs, at least that is my experience, no promotion so far, no gig bought

I plan on eventually moving to a host once I understand more about how to use WordPress. I'm going to get the SociallyViral theme as that is a really good theme and does a lot of the work behind the scenes for me for what I want. WP scares me a little as I don't have any HTML coding experience.

you dont need html experience with wordpress, i am quite experienced with using the wordpress platform and i have got on really well with it, and have never changed any html.

It is very easy to use, and you can use a WYSIWYG on it

I don't know what you've heard, but you don't need any HTML coding experience to have an awesome WP site. That's the beauty of the platform. There are many great specialized free themes available to do just what you want.

You need WP over Blogger because
      • WP is more credible and you will be seen in a more professional light (serious about your business) than if you use a Blogger free platform
      • The Blogger URL that you get will be a negative for your business. I wouldn't buy anything from a Blogger site
      • If you want to end up on WP eventually, you will have to transition to that new platform which will take time, effort, and a new URL
      • WP lets you have control of your site. Your free Blogger site could be taken down or your account closed and you will have no recourse
Just figure out a way to begin on your own domain. You won't regret that decision. The way I see it, you're serious about your business and want to make it the best it can possibly be . . . or you're not . . . in which case you'll probably end up not making any money at all.

Of course you can, but make sure the #1 investment you make once you get some return is getting your own domain and host your blog there.

Don't spend on anything else, get a free theme instead and learn how to use it.

Leverage free traffic, focus on 2-3 sources MAX and learn how to master them: If I were you I'd go with Social Media (choose one) and YouTube videos (choose one type of videos).

Don't use ad sense, promote affiliate products with a high payout, even with 3-5 sales you can get a domain and hosting.

Btw, what's your niche and how are you promoting this?

    Cheers
    Dan

Do you have enough money to buy lunch at McDonald's?

You have what it takes to get cheap hosting and a domain name.

There are promotions right now for $.99 domains and $4/mo hosting.

Go sell a pint of blood for $50. Or sell something on ebay that you don't need. You can do this if you really want to.

Simple answer YES.. Google adsense, affiliate marketing with banners or contextual links in your content. Videos you make (also with Google Adsense) promoting other people's products as an affiliate.

My niche is geeky stuff: Video games and comics.

May I ask why it's a big deal to have my own blog outside of more freedom to make it look however I want.

Simple answer is yes you can make money with blogger.

Understand you are playing under someone else's rules. And the rules can change at any time. That said there is nothing wrong with starting out with a blogger blog while you learn to create your own blog on your own host.

Make sure you follow the blogger rules. you can also set up a YouTube channel for free and promote your blogger blog with every video you create.

Once you learn to set up your own blog and hosting you will be amazed at how easy it is to add content.

I think a blogger blog is a great start. Blogger is very easy to integrate with AdSense. Make sure you back up everything you write. And add valuable content.

I have had a blogger blog for a number of years (including blogs on my own hosting), and I make a small amount of residual income from it. It is also a great way to add links and content which points back to my main websites.

A blogger blog up and running is way better than a Word Press Blog not built....

You can start a blogspot blog for free and start writing. Then, you can add adsense to it so you can monetize your traffic!
You can earn money with affiliate links as well. Nothing stops you from earning through your blog. But you must be patient or you should smart with your promotion strategies!

You'll struggle ranking on Google if you don't link your custom domains. You'll struggle building your brand as well.

But if you write about someone you're passionate enough, you can get traffic from forums, social media, make some money and then buy domain and even hosting.

To sign up with hostgator it's about 10 bucks...

If you don't have 10 bucks then I would suggest get a job and save up for it... NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN...

blogger is a platform but its always best to have your own with Wordpress.

If your planning on creating a valuable blog then get hosting and build a blog...

If your goal is to make money you won't make any money if you don't want to invest a cent into your business...

yes it takes money to make money, ask any millionaire.

but with bloggging, its all about CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT,

nowadays, google is a harlot and is only after the 1000+ posts, which will see nice ranking and SEO spots.

but ever since the internet started, it was about CONTENT< whoever had the best, got more traffic. So nothing has really changed.

You could make $10,000 a month with blogger, and guest posting, and always ensure you have an optin form at the top of your blog posts.

ALso with LSI keywords, make sure you rank for words that are under 1000 searches a month. We do this with blogger, hubspot and other WEB 2.0 blogs, and it always bringts in sales. Ok, they do not rush in, but they do trickle in from time to time, and its all about utilizing this for backlinks.

Sure. You can make a few bucks or two until they ban you for whatever reason. How are you going to stop people who don't like you or a competitor from clicking the "Report Abuse" link at the top of your Blogger blog? Their platform is not reliable.

Switch to Wordpress and self-host it on your own website. And get serious. Get your own domain name and web hosting account, and get Wordpress installed.

Honestly, don't cheap out. Go do it properly and get a domain and hosting. Skipping this will only cost you money in the long run.

Invest some money in hosting, theme and SEO. It will pay for itself in no time if you are committed in your efforts.
