Hey all,

I am a bit confused on what is Affiliate marketing.

Can anyone briefly explain what it is?

I did some searches and still cant fully grasp what it is.

I am specifically looking for how to use affiliate marketing for 2 websites.

1) a brick and mortal that sells online products and tickets to events.

2) a travel site that wants more visits to its website.

Thanks and sorry for the stupid question.

      Seriously, are you kidding?

Definitely not a forum '100%' about affiliate marketing.

Most of the people who make a decent wage online isn't in affiliate marketing.

I'm not talking about the exception here or there. Affiliate marketing isn't something you can build a business behind, mainly because you are building someone else's.

You're right, to some degree. A business can be defined as the practice of making one's living by engaging in commerce. Engaging in the commerce of someone else's products still lies in the domain of business I guess.

And I congratulate you on your accomplishment. However, when you are selling X number of Y products from Z company, you are aiding in building Z's infastructure. Not to say becoming an affiliate isn't a good thing... because it can be, but people that 'build the backbone' of their business 100% on affiliate income, in my opinion, does not have a real sustainable business, simply put, something they can scale up easily, not limited by vertical and horizontal scale, which unfortunately I don't see how someone can meaningfully scale affiliate marketing vertically.

I understand. I am merely stating my own personal opinion on a subject matter on an open forum. However, to indulge whatever you have said, I promote affiliate offers in my business. I also let affiliates promote our products. We're currently running a contest actually. However, I do not base my business on affiliate income. There's nothing wrong with it, Just my humble opinion.

I find it odd that you have been a member of this forum for 2 years, have made 75 posts, and still do know the answer to this. However, I explain it to people like a commission-based job like a car salesman or something. You don't know the product or products you're selling, but you earn a commission because brought in a potential life-long customer, which can make the company a lot of money over the long run.

Just go to clickbank.com, cj.com, affiliatewindow.com, amazon.com and many more. You'll learn exactly what you want to learn about Affiliate Marketing there, they even have video tutorials and then signup with them as you'll sell their products for commission - this way you're now their affiliate.

    Hi Chi124

There are no stupid questions !

Affiliate marketing generally is when online products or services
offer a link system to allow you to sell their product or service
by referring people to their web site with your special link.
When people click your link, and go buy the product,
you get credited with the sale and get a commission.

You can also use some affiliate networks to create affiliate links
for YOUR products and services, then others can get a link to
sell your product, and you pay them a commission. It's a great
way to get other people out their pushing traffic to your sales page.

There are several networks that provide such a service for you to
sell your products. One of them is right here on the Warrior Forum.
If you become a War Room member you can sell Warrior Special Offers
here on the forum, and this forum has a built in affiliate system so you
can allow others to sell your product or service.

You can also use networks like clickbank, although they are going through
some changes right now that are not good for the vendor. If you want to
just get started for free, there is paydotcom.com . they let you add your
first product to their affiliate network for free. I made a lot of money
through them years ago. Their fees are a bit steeper, but you don't
pay a dime until you're making money, so it's good for starting out.
Not sure they even still exist, it's been a few years. but that's one way.

There are a few other solutions. If you need more help,
send me a PM. Hope that helps.

Have a great day toward your online success !

    Yours truly,
    Jeff Noyes
