Hey Warriors,

What is a lot of traffic to your website?

I am curious to see what someone would consider a lot of traffic (I know there are other things like conversion, sales, backend, but here lets discuss traffic and I know depends on the market, but generalize).

Is 10,000 or 50,000 or 100,000 visitors a month a lot of traffic to a website.

What is a lot of traffic each month to your website?

Thanks,
Mukul

    Hi there

I think it depends on what you are getting - I have a party if I get ten visitors per day to my sites so if something I was doing actually got me past the 100 per day mark I am not sure what I would do

I would be interested in what other people said too

If you are talking about targeted visitors, then you should be able to make a decent income a month with only 3000-5000 visitors.

That is also assuming your site/salespage is converting at 1% and earning $40+ per sale.

You should learn not to base your Internet business on what others think, but instead on what you want for your business.

Thanks Lisa, Adam, Tron2K great comments.

Somebody watch Lisa, soon she may fall out of her chair soon.

I agree you should not base it on others, however reason I asked is that the # of targeted visitors I get, I thought was not satisfying, until I mention it to someone and they are like dude that's is a HUGE amount (I thought it was average), so I asked the question here and get some great WF discussion

We are talking targeted traffic here

THANKS would love to hear more peoples thoughts!!!

I agree with those who mentioned above that traffic on its own is not a very useful metric. I have friends and clients who consider only a million page views a month low, but that is because they are in niches where multiple millions is the norm and where they make money on a CPM basis with lots of competition.

That said, when I get on the front page of Digg and get 20k visitors in a day, I celebrate. I had to move hosts because the old ones could not cope ... so you have to keep in mind traffic is both a joy and a curse

Remember HITS stands for How Idiots Track Success... traffic is absolutely not a way to measure how well you are doing unless you are getting paid on Pay Per View banner advertising... The value of traffic is completely dependent on the niche you are in. If you are in a make money at home or similar niche making $30-$50 per sale, you may need thousands of visitors per month to make a good income.

If you are selling airplane turbines then you will only need a few targeted visitors to make a nice penny.

Again, traffic is irrelevant, the bottom line is what really matters.

I could care less how much traffic I get as long as we convert a high enough of them. It's all relative because for us, 2-3 sign ups per page is huge in the long term....I'd rather have 20, but we're just getting started.

Some of our traffic is word of mouth targeted which means we convert like 80% so it is hard to take that out of our stats

Does not matter, The more traffic the better however your real point of interest is how much of that traffic is converting?
100 visitors with a 8% conversion rate means 8 people took action
that's what numbers you should worry about... 10,000 visitors and none took action? Whats the point?

the answer to your question is going to depend on how targeted the traffic you are getting is. For example, if you are promoting the sale of the Wii and all your traffic you were getting was organic traffic from google with the keywords, Wii for sale, then a lot of traffic might only be 500 visits a month.

If you are driving 100,000 visits a day but with no target in mind, then it is pointless. It will all depend on how targeted the traffic is.

Once you start getting some very targeted traffic, you just need to do what you are doing twice as much and twice as often. Before you know it you will be very successful.

      Good luck.

What I find is the longer you have a person snooping around your site. The more chances you have at selling them something. Even if it is just a simple click to an adsense ad. I just put a site up in mid july. This site is generating me about 100+ page views a day at present how ever it is only getting about 40 actual visitors. So on average I am getting about 3-4 page views per visit. I am working every day to increase the backlinks and search engine ranking. My ranking at the moment is fluctuating alot. One day I will have say the top spot for a particular highly populated keyword then the next day I am on page 6. This is fine as long as I get it up to these highly searched keywords atleast once a week. However I have watched it go from the top ten to off the pages with in a few minutes.

The site also at this point does not have a page ranking yet. It also will not for another 2 months. However I know I that a bunch of the backlinks I have created from comments to others blogs. The pr for some of these sites go up as high as pr8 and the lowest is a pr2 site. These are also highly targeted to go with in my niche which is the best and easiest seo work you can do. Here is a little piece of free seo training. Backlinks amounts do not matter as much as backlinks with in your niche. If you have a site for say medical remodies be sure to build your links up first with in all the sites in the medical industry first. This will get you highly targeted traffic over passer bys which could really care less about what you have to offer. This will also help to improve your pr.

As I said this is the first time I have actually put my seo research to work for a site. This will definatly not be the last time I do this. My first site I was only able to get maybe 200 visitors and 280 page views with in the first month. That also did not generate any sales what so ever. So it felt like a waste. However with this new site I generated over 1k visitors in the first month and over 3500 page views with in the first month. This also generated over 8 sales for the month. So this leads me to believe how I did this new site is the proper way to start any website. I will be working on this site as well in a few weeks to help the search engine traffic. However the search engine traffic is there just not as much as I would like. Because I used low searched keywords for the main site. I can now use dif keywords with a much higher search vollume to get more traffic.

I disregard the pageviews and traffic watch and closely monitor my daily aweber stats. My clients base their businesses on leads per day. Some are getting 10 or more leads per day while others are getting one or two. As others have said, targeted traffic is the key here. I prefer to tweak my exposure for leads results.
