Domain names and keywords

Inconsistencies are killing me!

"Make sure the domain uses that keyword. Do keyword research and focus your posts around that research"

"Be sure to include your buying keywords in your domain names..."

And the examples are:

techchuck*com
worldnews2u*info
cooking.ixltrainingbooks*com
Engadget*com

Where are the keywords there?
Thank you

    Those websites have chosen to go the "brandable" route. Feel free to go that route! I'm sure they had a harder time ranking for certain keywords when they started out, but after tons of hard work and relevant information, the content outweighs the domain in ranking value.

    However, it is always easier to make sure your keywords are in the domain.

    If Engadget just ran an adsense mini-site rather than a blog that was a constantly updated source of news and information, they wouldn't rank as well.

    techchuck*com == Tech
    worldnews2u*info == World News
    cooking.ixltrainingbooks*com == Cooking
    Engadget*com == Gadgets

    see the point? They do have keywords in their domain, though these keywords are extremely competitive but they are doing fairly good job ranking on them. Keywords become irrelevant for SERPs in google when your content starts having authority on it.

      Are these statements still valid :

      "Make sure the domain uses that keyword. Do keyword research and focus your posts around that research"

      "Be sure to include your buying keywords in your domain names..."

      Or maybe they are old fashioned theory?

      Gee! I am very confused!

        Yes they are still valid. They will make your website rank easier.

        But, it is not necessary.
