Ever Lost your Website on GoDaddy?

Hello everyone,

Something just happened to me all of a sudden. When my hosting was up for renewal on GoDaddy, for some reason (and sometimes this does happen due to connectivity issues), the automatic renewal on my debit card failed. And so I went online to renew--and it worked--but then my entire website seems to have been completely wiped out. It no-longer exists. Has this ever happened to you?

Anthony

    How "overdue" was it?

    Who hosted the site?

If your website was expired, and the hosting was with another company, check whether the folder still exists on the host.

If it was hosted with GoDaddy, that's another issue.

If you domain had not expired (ie. it was only a few days between the renewal deadline and now), or if what I just said is gibberish to you, call GoDaddy.

When your domain expires and the site is hosted elsewhere, the connection between the two is dropped.

After you renew, it takes some time for the DNS settings to reconnect. So you keep seeing GoDaddy's parked page because that's what's in your cache. After a time...a few minutes, a few hours, or a day, the DNS settings will reconnect to your host and Presto! the site will be back.

But if your domain hadn't expired yet, or you're hosting with who you also register with, GoDaddy, then it's another issue and you should call them.

I'm sure GoDaddy sent you a flurry of emails about the status of your domain...

...so you should easily be able to figure out what status it was at before you renewed it.
